Spot the difference!

Roy Lichtenstein is alive and well, and living in Fumel; Lot et Garonne.

Having been trained in such things, had I been working on a similar scale I would have squared it on paper, then squared it onto the wall. However, doing it freehand does have it's qualities, and it makes me smile every time I go past.

Below is Roy's version.

    1. I drive past it twice a week; I'm thinking of taking a different route!

  2. LOL! Gotta laugh and give him a C- for effort, but it looks downright sad when it's side by side with the original. Man, y'all have jinxed us with your weather. I'm still up close to midnight because of monster thunderstorms, lightning, rolling thunder, hail & all. I'm lucky to have electricity. My cats are sitting on my head: scaredy cats!!

    1. Hot day here yesterday.... but it won't last. It's our dog (Bok) who comes onto our bed in a storm!

  3. Considering some of the graffiti around this is bright and....well bright yellow and eye catching. I like it

    1. As badly executed as it is; it's still fun.

  4. The grey buildings in Fumel need a bit of colour. I shall be looking out for it in a couple of weeks' time.

    1. Those grey concrete walls could host a Graffiti Competition. Maybe I should suggest it to the Mairie!

    1. The above is quite new, and a definite improvement on the 'squiggles' that we usually see.

  6. I love graffiti! I would love to have my house given a seeing to by my dentist’s son who makes a very good living as a graffiti artist. It would cause consternation in Hythe. Our group of houses is a boring row of various
ages of ‘Tusk’, a Brewer’s building merchants answer to magnolia... Horrible! I’m all for revolting, sadly it’s in my genes, age doesn’t weary me!

    1. I wonder what the protocol is for such a project? Would you have to get 'planning permission', and the approval of neighbours? In Brighton there are some magnificent examples which I'd be proud to have on my facade; although I don't know if my lovely tenants would be equally happy.

    2. Just seen a post on a friend's fb..he is in Brighton.
Someone has added to one wall beside the graffiti, the sort of name history and analysis on a sheet that you get in a gallery!

    3. I'm not surprised; some of them are superb.

  7. I prefer to see graffiti/ street art that is relevant to the place. Tauranga and Mount Maunganui have a huge amount but 90% is just a re-hash of some other place and /or time, even if technically excellent. Therefore, in my opinion, still annoying and meaningless. Sorry to rant, but this is one thing about which I have strong feelings.

    1. There is certainly good and bad. There are also appropriate and inappropriate locations. It's a matter of finding the right place for the right work. And may I add that I cannot stand those stupid squiggles that one sees everywhere; they should be a punishable offence.

    1. At first glance it's interesting, but the more you look at it, the more it becomes a bit odd.

  9. The expressions are very different. In a peculiar way I think there is far more emotion in the wall version.

    1. The top one emits 'horror', and the original 'emotional sadness'. At least that's how I see them.
