Ms Wylie's photo (above) appeared in a recent copy of The Sunday Times, and I found it quite enticing.
I decided to study the picture closely, then attempt to draw it simply from memory.
OK, my effort is a bit rustic, probably because I'm out of practice.

I think she might recognise herself. It was tempting to alter it; but I resisted.
I haven't heard him speak too much Eeeeengleeesh; he possibly learned it in Swaziland.
This wasn't intended to coincide with last night's programme, but we were all taught to LOOK, LOOK, and LOOK again, before making even the simplest of marks on paper or canvas. These people do the opposite; they glance at the subject, then spend ten minutes scrubbing around before glancing again. Why did none of the 'tutors' explain that to them!!!
The paintings on the wall behind her must have sparked a subliminal effect in you to make the drawing. She would have been an ideal model for Beryl Cooke.
I simply thought she had such character that it would make an interesting experiment... unfortunately one can't do the same thing with a live person.
Trying to remember everything isn't easy. I concentrated on certain bits, then filled-in what I couldn't remember.
Please don't send anything.
And why do the tutors not explain to them that you are supposed to set your easel so you can see your subject by moving your eyes, not your body, from easel to subject and back again and you do not block your vision of what you are painting by the ruddy thing. I thought they were most cruel to Jane for telling her not to use the bright vibrant colours she likes and when she experimented and took their advice they said the complete opposite and condemned her.
I can see that we're shouting the same things. Very frustrating; I don't think I'll watch it again.
Cro you have the artist's talent of retaining an image in your mind. You have her mouth and her eyes almost spot on and she is altogether recognisable.
I looked at the photo, on and off, for about 5 mins. It was amazing how much I forgot, and had to 'invent'.

I find your rendering completely fun and catching her spirit well.
It's a fun thing to do; try it from a photo of someone you know well.
I love the way you capture a look with just a few lines. I might try it when I get time but I'm very rusty.
Must try this exercise but I'm sure I won't be anywhere near as successful as you! I used to try and draw people from concerts etc. on the tv which sometimes worked but could be very frustrating

I used to do that too, when I was quite young; my drawings were always rubbish.
She probably is a dude. She's certainly a strong minded woman.
I have to say that I find the comments on your posts in general and this post in particular quite strange sometimes. I have no ability to hold images in my head and no ability to draw so the challenge you set yourself would totally defeat me. However I do appreciate art and artistic ability. I'm not sure that I can work out what she is thinking but your portrait is certainly instantly recognisable.
I'm afraid I have a couple of trolls who simply think in terms of confrontation; regardless of subject. I can't get rid of them (as yet), so they continue to make themselves look as stupid as possible. I do try to delete them as fast as they arrive, but occasionally I just give up!
Isn't she a great subject ?! was never good at portraits but might give this a try.
