The local Spring Fair.

If you're interested in gaudy shopping baskets, yucky children's hats, or 1950's women's corsets, then yesterday's Fair was for you.

Otherwise there were sausages,

more sausages,

and yet more sausages.

And a couple of friendly blokes selling nougat.

I go every year, and it's always the same. However I did buy a single 'Roma' Tomato plant for €1; Romas are always useful for cooking.

That's it for another year.

And you didn't buy any sausages?

Then they pack up and tour English towns and cities for the next six months to where they have persuaded Town Halls that a French market with all its tat is a must-have cos it's French.

My husband would be at the sausage stalls.

I'm on a diet.

Ha-ha, you summed it up perfectly. Who buys those corsets? Surely not all those chic thin French women!

And, boy, was there some tat there yesterday!

Normally I would too, but I'm not allowed either cheese or sausages at the moment.

I didn't notice a queue.

The food stalls look good - the ham in particular.

I didn't see any cheese but I would be a starter for that as well.

There were quite a few cheese stalls, but it was mostly ghastly clothes.

I've always said
" you can't get enough sausage !!!"

I thought the Mediterranean diet was supposed to be healthy. There could be some serious amounts of artery clogging lard in those bangers. There's a Macron-Merkel-Juncker slogan out there: "Stop complaining and eat your salami."

No Austrian Spring today. Peeing down. And cold blast from Scandinavia.

I'm just back from the Doc's, and she told me to continue with my diet.... I'm on course.

They are very tempting; and of course very delicious.

I did manage to spend €1. That's enough.

Diets are never easy and It must have been hard to pass on all that sausage. Good for you for resisting the temptation.

Luckily I have very good will-power.

Funny, one of my colleagues is from France and regularly bemoans not being able to find a proper selection of cheeses here, but she's never mentioned horrible hats or dodgy dresses. Maybe the spectacular array of polyester frights at the local market here fits that niche for her?!

What? No nougat ? How can you resist it?

Cro Magnon said...

Small town country fairs over here are usually outlets for stuff that won't sell elsewhere, hence the horrors on view. I don't think anyone buys the clothes here either.

Cro Magnon said...

No, I don't eat sweets at all. I wasn't even tempted.
