Enfin!

It is said, hereabouts, that there is never a month of May that goes by without producing a few Cèpes.

Over the past few days I've been scouring the woods, and I'd found a few big ones that were beyond the eating stage, but yesterday morning I found these.

A delicious lunchtime omelette was eaten.

    1. There's little to compare to a fresh Cèpe omelette.

  3. I would think current weather conditions should be good for the mushrooms. That omelette looks good.

    1. Normally we would have Girolles at the moment, but it's been too dry. We need about 3 days of heavy rain.

  5. I'd rather have the delicious cèpes than your kale (curly or otherwise) any day.

    1. Luckily I like both, but a Kale omelette doesn't sound too appetising.

    1. I don't suppose I'll be boring you with more mushrooming tales for a while. Unless it pours, of course.

  8. We have had so much rain that my lawn and woods are full of mushrooms. Unfortunately, they are not the edible kind.

    1. Most of them probably are edible; there are very few that are poisonous. However, best not eat them 'just in case'.

  9. We've had lots of rain and storms. Every night time. Days are dry and fine. Perfect weather. Presque.

    1. I think we may have a spot of rain later today; the sky certainly suggests as much.

  10. That looks absolutely delicious. I have easily given up meat, but eggs I just cant do it. They make such lovely meals.

  11. Lots of recent rain around here might just lead to my finding some of those mushrooms at tomorrow's farmers market. I will send an update.

    Your omelet inspires me.

    1. I read somewhere that the Cèpes in the USA don't have the same flavour as the ones in Europe. I can't think why not! Maybe your ones are better!

    2. I will let you know. All last year, I kept checking the market for cepes/chanterelles and never found any for sale. It was a sort of dry season...

    3. I wish I could find the article, it was from an in-flight magazine that a friend sent to me. Although European and US Cepes are EXACTLY the same variety, it seems that over the years they have changed flavour.

    4. Something to do with the soil perhaps?
