Tayberries.

We don't have a bucket-load every day, but we do have enough to keep rickets at bay, whilst tantalising our finely honed taste buds.

These are the berries from the escapee plants that fled from my neighbour's land, down into Haddock's where they now grow extremely happily.

I seem to be picking more and more each day, so if someday soon I should have that 'bucket-load', I might even make some Tayberry Jam.

Sounds more intriguing than Raspberry Jam; don't you think?

Tayberries! How exotic. Very good with a dollop of thick cream, I imagine. I have never encountered a tayberry but I'm guessing they taste a lot like raspberries. Growing your own food is so satisfying.

They are supposed to be a cross between a Raspberry and a Blackberry, but they taste very similar to Raspberries (only they're much bigger).

I've been picking the first raspberries but the tayberries are nowhere near ready.

Our raspberry canes have been nipping under the fence into next door's garden for a few years now…they now have more than we do!

Well I hope they appreciate them; we certainly do from our neighbours.

It's good your neighbours send you something nice to make up for ugly walls and thirsty horses.

If only they knew how generous they've been!

And to think I've been calling them 'black-raspberries'!

I hope you get to make that jam.

I've just come back from picking more, and I think they're about to go mad; so it looks as if I will!

In what direction are they heading? Our neighbour's plants have been heading due East.

I made strawberry freezer jam with my GK's last week. We've eaten it on toast, pancakes, muffins, scones, more pancakes...making your own jam is as satisfying as well making your own jam. Get to it Cro!

I will, even if it's only a couple of pots.

I've never heard of tayberries before, but they sound perfect, especially if they have the firmer consistency of a blackberry. I love raspberries, but they tend to soften too quickly.

We don’t have any Tayberries but have a very productive clump of raspberries that truly give forth a bucket load. I recently purchased a clump of golden raspberries that should produce next year.

Are you onto something here?

I don't have tayberries, and don't think i've ever tasted one. I've got raspberries here, mine are spreading northwest.

I was hoping I was, but you've just dashed my theory.
