It's wonderful when workmen turn-up at the house, and ask if they can do the work that they were asked to do several years back. Well, maybe not 'years', but several months anyway.
Work on our barn advances at an escargot's pace. This is part due to our very busy tradesmen, and part due to our pockets. All building work is expensive, and the coffers need to be rejuvenated between each job.
The light coloured Oak surrounding frame to this large sliding window will be stained black. I was obliged to have the frame fitted as the original opening was neither plumb nor level. Having it ALL black 'should' make it disappear; my intention being to re-arrange the building with the minimum of visual evidence. The window itself is actually very dark brown; as will be the 5 windows.
We are extremely happy with the result, and are now waiting for our builder, Baptiste, to come and build the front steps (another few months maybe?).

Isn't a barn a place for storing hay? I'm sure you have a good reason for taking such pains over its aesthetic qualities.
It's actually an old tobacco drying barn, that we're converting into a Summer apartment, and fun palace. It's never seen a blade of hay.
