Still proclaiming.

I recently heard this song being used as the backing for some BBC Radio play (I can't remember what it was).

The Proclaimers were a strange phenomenon on the music scene. Scottish twin brothers, Craig and Charlie Reid from Auchtermuchty, sand alluringly old fashioned songs that became huge hits. Their songs 'Letter from America', and 'I'm gonna be' (I would walk 500 miles), took them to the top of the UK charts.

This particular song 'Beautiful truth' is amongst their best. A beautiful relaxing melody.

You should watch the film Sunshine on Leith, it's a musical featuring all the music of the Proclaimers.

In case you missed Thought for the Day this am on Radio 4, the god bod (can’t remember who it was) was talking about the Bank of England changing bank notes - perhaps he reads your blog. After the usual nonsense of tying it to God he had a brainwave for the bank note….Larry the Cat.

I like the idea of Larry being on the notes. Better than a lot of people I could think of!!!

What was interesting about The Proclaimers was that they sung in their natural Scottish accents as opposed to all other groups and singers who all adopted American accents, like Elton John who seemed to take it a stage further, which I guess helped him to establish himself on the other side of the pond.
And that American singing accent was of course rejected by artists like Paul Weller.

I agree, though Elon would t like it. Larry has had his Twitter account frozen

I agree, it really annoys me when I hear people singing in 'foreign' accents. They should be proud of who they are, and where they came from.

I've heard 'I would have walked 500 miles' but don't remember them at all. Good music

Just nice pleasant tunes. A rarity these days.
