Luckily for me, Lady M is a champion Mince Pie maker. But because her pies are so good they tend to go very quickly.
To fill the gap, we tend to buy commercial pies as well; and they can be of varying quality.
Mostly I buy 'luxury' pies from Sainsbury's which are fine. The non-luxury ones are not so good. If they had 'professional' pies, I would buy those too.
Lady M recently bought two different types from M & S. The one pack with Puff Pastry was very disappointing, but the one's above are totally delicious.
They are Brandy Butter Mince Pies. There's a layer of Brandy Butter above the Mincemeat, and the pastry is very good too. They're not cheap, but at Christmas who's counting!!!
Go on; treat yourself. I'd give them 9½/10.

I prefer "Greedy Guts" economy mince pies from Lidl. Great value at 79 pence for twelve.
ReplyDeleteThey use those here as 'hardcore'.
DeleteHubby does all the baking here, I made mincemeat a couple of months ago, so far we have not purchased any.
ReplyDeleteIf you get the chance; these are good.
DeleteOff topic, but you may find this interesting??

I read that this morning. Nothing surprises me about our loony council and/or other Wokies in positions of influence. They are constantly looking for new things to annoy everyone. I think they want a cross-dressing, black, Labour-voting, out-of-work, heroin addict, Santa; dressed in a pale grey track suit (with hoodie). Well, good bloody luck to them!!!
DeleteWith brandy butter! What luxury, what decadence! Why didn't you post this before. I finished my last lot of pies yesterday.
ReplyDeleteDelicious!... I'm certain 😁
We've finished all ours now; it's back to Sainsbury's best (unless I can get Lady M to make more).
DeleteThey look wonderful, I wish there was a Marks and Spencer nearby.
ReplyDeleteThey really are delicious. We often eat our own with Brandy Butter (or thick Cream) but to have it already in place is superb.
DeleteI've never had a mince pie! Somehow the thought of the suet component puts me off. I'd might be tempted to try one of Lady M's, though.
ReplyDeleteYou wouldn't know the Suet was there. If you ever come to the UK for Christmas, a Mince Pie or two is a MUST.
DeleteSainsbury also has mince pies topped with brandy butter and they are also good.
ReplyDeleteI shall have a look tomorrow; I must have missed them!
DeleteJust made : dozen Frangipane topped mince pies . They are delicious without all the pastry on top as well . Safely stashed in the freezer and brought out a few at a time .
ReplyDeleteEven the best store-bought mince pies can't be as good as Lady M's pies.
