One of the things that has always worried me about Tru*p, is that arrogant stance he adopts. It has always reminded me of another country's past 'leader'.
World leaders should show humility. They should be modest, and recognise their own limitations, weaknesses, and even their accomplishments; without strutting their own self-importance. It's important that he is 'strong' when dealing with the likes of Hamas or Putin, but don't back that up with Mussolini type strutting.
However, if Tru*p manages to broker peace in Gaza, then we must all give him the recognition he deserves. We can all imagine what he said to the leaders of Hamas, and one can but wonder why such things were not said a long time ago.
I quite expect they will now return the hostages (both alive and dead), but will they keep to the rest of the deal?
Hamas only exists to fight Israel, so keeping a good stash of arms will be essential for them. If they are not fighting there is no reason for their existence, and I cannot see them laying down their arms and home-made rockets for good. Like the IRA, they will simply hide, or bury them, to use later.
Tru*p also seems to be achieving his aims re illegal immigrants. I see that he has deported around 500,000, and another 1.6 Million have 'self-deported'. In Biden's final year in office he only deported 271,000. Whatever one thinks of Tru*p (and I'm no fan) he does seem to be ridding the country of a lot of undesirables.
It may sound cold-hearted, but we also need to be rid of the criminal gangs here in the UK. Many come here specifically to commit crime, and they must be shown the door; Tru*p style! I'm sure they could happily continue their trade in their own countries.
Surely, it must be more cost effective to not allow the "undesirables" to enter ones country in the first place, rather that have to go to the trouble of rounding them up and deporting them, or is that too difficult for our dear leaders over the past decade and a half to understand?
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately our 'dear leaders' actually send boats out into the Channel to bring them here. In the wonderful 'one in, one out' deal, 26 have been returned to France, and over 1,000 have arrived. And that's just the past week. It's going well; wouldn't you say!
DeleteI don't like arrogant posturing, when politicians dress up in military uniform it really irks me.
ReplyDeleteMe too. Tru*p's posturing is some of the worst.
DeleteIt's hard to describe in words this crazy roller coaster of our lives here.
ReplyDeleteHe says his next missions are Iran and Russia. He wants to save the world. We'll see!
DeleteCro, I hesitate to grace your post with a comment. Your blog is turning into a hate fest. "Undesirables"? They are still human beings.
ReplyDeleteAs an aside, let's not judge people on their looks, their demeanour. On the whole, people can't help how they look. Sure, that sniffy, down in the mouth, chin up [that so many older men carry] isn't becoming; may even tell you a lot about the person. But then so does the scorn and ridicule heaped upon them by others about the very others.
U
How many illegal criminal immigrants have you befriended, or even given a home to? Matron Merkle filled your homeland with them, and just look what has happened. Now, like Tru*p, they are desperate to get rid of them. We should be doing the same.
DeleteIt's that arrogant stance that I dislike. However I hope he can bring lasting peace.
ReplyDeleteGood for him if he does. However, it might make him even more arrogant.
DeleteLet’s see what happens. In the short term it might work, though apparently Israel dropped lots of bombs over night. In the long run, I doubt it will hold. There is too much hatred in both sides.
ReplyDeleteI can't see Hamas giving up their arms. They're not that sort!
DeleteGaza has been pummelled so mercilessly that there are almost no targets left. One hopes that that constantly troubled part of the world is on the verge of lasting peace but sadly, past history suggests that it will only be a temporary lull. The path to an equitable future has not been cleared of landmines.
ReplyDeleteAs long as Hamas are still around, those targets will continue to exist. Real, long-lasting, peace will only happen when the last amongst them is gone.
DeleteThe departure of Netanyahu would also be a huge help.
DeleteHe's a bit of a Marmite type character.
DeleteUnfortunately, most of the people getting dragged out of their cars as they pick up their kids from school or go to work are ordinary people who keep American society running, who work, pay taxes, and don't receive any benefits for their taxes. Only 30% of the people he's jailed have criminal records.
ReplyDeleteThe other place people are getting arrested is when they appear at court for their lawful, required immigration hearings. They're "doing it right" but getting deported, sometimes to countries other than their country of origin anyway.
DeleteThanking the Nobel committee for NOT giving the idiot the Peace Prize!!!
ReplyDeleteWatch out for 2026!
DeleteIf the peace holds, he deserves the prize, I think.
DeleteTrump's quite public and blatant desire to win The Noble Peace Prize, of which the winner was announced this morning, I've found quite worrying. It says a lot about him.
ReplyDeleteApparently the Nobel Board of judges dropped any chance of him winning today as the Middle East Peace Deal is still in process. But mainly he was overlooked due to his aggression and threats towards other countries.
I've never known anyone previously being so open about wanting the prize. As I said in Para 2, he needs to show some humility.
