Sunday Special: Cute polar bear cubs

The West's love of Teddy Bears has not happened by chance; we all know the origin of the name, but Bear Cubs must be amongst the cutest and most attractive animals on earth; especially Polar Bear Cubs.

If you love wildlife as much as I do, you'll love this. It's unashamedly sentimental; but I really don't care. I just hope that Polar Bears will still be around for future generations to witness.

If this doesn't lift your spirits, I don't know what would.

  1. This is wonderful, made me smile.
I posted a "Smile' on my blog but it was about a Doggy Day Care Farm in Australia.

  2. That did put a smile on my face. I wonder if all bears play with their cubs like this?

  3. So cute …. I’ve always loved polar bears …. Do you remember when Brumas was born at London Zoo ? That was 1949 ….. I was born in 1951 but must have seen photos of Brumas then saw him when he was older ….. we used to go to London Zoo quite a lot ! Had the ride on the elephant there ! I have always been fascinated at the size of polar bears paws ….. they are MASSIVE !!!!! XXXX

    1. We probably rode on the same Elephant, but at different times. Yes I remember Brumas; he was a huge star, and drew enormous crowds. I suppose he was one of the first animal superstars.

  5. Parent bear having fun rolling around while still caring for its kiddies. It was a great little clip.

  6. The polar bear should have been the visible symbol of COP26. Saving polar bears should be enough to spur the entire planet into meaningful action against climate change. Thanks for sharing the cute video clip.

    1. I just hope they survive; their futures don't look too rosy.

    3. YP, on reading Cro's cute post this morning I remembered the photo that went round the world not that many years ago. It made me cry. Literally. And my waterworks ain't leaking easily. It was of a polar bear, adrift on a tiny ice float. Whether it was one of those floats that polar bears often find themselves on, with little ill effect, is irrelevant. There was just something so god forsaken, forlorn, hopeless about the image. Most certainly, as you say, what a poster bear for the COP26.

  7. About as feel-good factor as one can get.

  8. When Al Gore was born there were 5000 polar bears. Today only 30,000 remain. And no that's not a typo.

    1. It's the future melting of the ice caps where the problem lies. But Polar Bears seem to be able to live almost anywhere, so maybe they'll join our Foxes, and become Urban Bears.

  9. Mothers and Babies, Cro. Though, unlike the first frame of your clip, my own didn't have to hang on for dear life to his mother's fur. I carried him, first in my arms, then parked on my left hip bone (I am right handed). Yes, hip bones. Women have them (protruding) for a reason, men not so much.

Since it's Sunday do please indulge me one moment longer: My first memory of mother and babies, staying with me to this day, was that of Mother Duck on a pond and her five little ones following the leader in her purposeful stride. V shape.

    Quack, quack,
    little bear (Ursula) greetings,
    U

  10. Absolutely adorable. Precious, in the real sense. Nature and wildlife are the most important things on planet Earth. Everyone should do their best to protect and help look after what we have. Jean
