Haddock's

The Ice saints are still about three weeks away, but I'm throwing caution to the winds and hoping that our frosts are already over.

At Haddock's from Right to Left; a row of Strawberry plants that I potted as 'runners' last Autumn, which are now nicely in flower, then a couple of rows of Red Onions, 6 Aubergines and 6 Peppers.

On the other side of the weedy pathway, a row of Carrots, a row of Perpetual Spinach, and the first row of dwarf French Beans.

The two beds in the background are yet to be planted.

Courgettes are in pots and are almost ready for being planted out, and in a seed-bed (slightly hidden at the top of the photo) are rows of Cavolo Nero, Swiss Chard, and Parsley seedlings.

All my Tomatoes are in big pots against a south facing wall below the pool.

Hand watering was done at 8 am, just before the sun was fully up. With no proper rain on the horizon, it looks as if I'll need to connect the hose.

  1. Wishing you good harvesting. You're going to have another of fresh healthy meals. Oh, and I spit on you three times. Don't want to put the evil eye on Haddocks

    2. I hope so. We're just about to have some Strawberries, and I'm looking closely at my Artichokes. Things should kick-off quite soon.

    1. At this stage it's wonderful; when the weeds start to grow, not so wonderful.

  4. We've just planted out 150+ onions that I'd had growing on in modules in the greenhouse, and we are having to water every few days - in West Wales!!!!! Lovely weather, though!

    1. That's a lot of Onions. I haven't counted mine, but I should think there's about 50? It's usually enough, with a few left over to throw away in Spring.

    2. I'd ordered a small bag of white, and one of red, just like last year, without checking the weight! We did get through 60/70 last year, and have been buying more for a few months, so I expect we'll get through them.

  5. I must sow my runner beans today (in pots). Aubergines (still indoors) always seem to grow ever so slowly.

    1. I only grow the dwarf French beans. I haven't eaten a 'runner' for years.

  8. I have learned to ignore the Saints de Glace at my peril - but them I'm at a higher altitude than you are (and I can still see snow from my bedroom window)!

  10. Looks lovely. You don’t like runner beans? One of my favourite vegetables but would love to be able to grow aubergine. Need a greenhouse where I am, I think

    1. I do like Runner Beans. There is a French version of Runners, but it's more convenient for me to buy dwarf Beans. I think I prefer the taste too.
