The previous time I bought Aldi 'Lamb Shanks', I made the mistake of buying the ones that had a Mint flavoured sauce. It slightly spoilt an otherwise very pleasant meal.
This time I bought the same thing, but with a Red Wine sauce; far, far, better.
Again I put a few spuds in to roast, then 15 minutes later the still-frozen Lamb Shanks. After an hour the dish was complete. No cooking to speak of, and just two small roasting dishes to wash-up.
As you might see, I added my own pukka home-made Mint sauce this time, and it was totally delicious. I probably put too much of the red-wine sauce on my plate, but.....
If you are like me and occasionally you don't feel like cooking, but want something delicious at a very reasonable price; go to Aldi, buy a few of these packs for your freezer, and you are ready for whatever life throws at you. There are two separate vacuum-packs of Lamb in each £7 packet, so also perfect for one-person households.
Verdict: 10/10 Totally delicious, at a bargain price (£3.50 each). 5 Star Yums.

It looks very meaty.
Yes, a really good hearty meal.
Excellent idea.
I'm still surprised by how good they are !
You seem to be quite taken by Aldi food, now that you have tried a few things. Is there a store near your French home? Or will you revert to your French diet once you have arrived there?
Something else for me to look for on Thursday!! I haven't really investigated the frozen section much in the few years I have been going there. Have you only got potatoes on that plate? Where is your healthy green veg?
The addition of green vegetables would be imperative for me - even if it was just frozen peas from the freezer.
Just the spuds. I'm a meat-n-one veg person.
Now't wrong with frozen Peas. I always have them at the ready, but not on this occasion. I was being lazy.
I do know that there's a Lidl store not far away. I have been there and didn't like it. I shall have to look for an Aldi. It would certainly be a second string to my bow, along with Leclerc.
Looks good but would need some veggies for me.
Tesco does half price half legs or shoulders around Easter and Christmas. I tend to stock up on those.
The Shanks are quite large, so too many vegs would be very 'filling'. Just the spuds was enough for me.
I could do with some of those in the freezer. I've made a note to look in Lidls whenever we go.
Very convenient especially as it's tasty too
When we get back from France in September, I shall buy several for the freezer. They're too good not to be well stocked!
Do Brits eat salads (lettuce and raw veggies and various things)?
Lovely
Usually every day.
It weas indeed.
