Boo Boo and the Cherub.

We have family with us again. They are twixt Amsterdam and Sweden, so a short sojourn at their French country residence is very timely. They move into their Swedish house in September.

Billy is happy, we're happy, and the boys are certainly happy. They went straight to their toy boxes (the Cherub loves Lego), took Billy for a long walk, and asked me to light a fire (which I didn't; it was 35 C).

It's so good to hear children's voices and laughter again.... they'd been away far too long.

Unfortunately they have to go back to Sweden to sign papers for the house, so their visit will be short.

Why is it that Cherubs always wear odd socks. He has another pair exactly the same up at the barn.

They're only here for a few days. Ah well, it's always good to see them; even if as briefly.

Good that you don't have any travel restrictions and that they are close enough to visit regularly.

It'll be a bit further to drive when they move to Sweden; but at least it's not Oz or Thailand.

Good boy Cherub. I never wear matching socks. It's a gentle way of rebelling :)

I had a friend who graduated from the Royal College of Art Fashion dept. He was well known for promoting odd socks.

Are you sure it was 35c ? That cherub is very warmly dressed !!

Excellent observational skills, Frances. I was so taken with Blondie (as my mother used to call my son when he was little) I hadn't noticed.

Maybe the (partly) Swedish neither feel cold nor heat. Sort of a survival skill.

Do enjoy their company while you can.

It was hot but slightly overcast. They still wanted me to light the fire.

Let’s just challenge about how the child is dressed eh?

It was HOT, but it may not look like it.

We will; but briefly.

I always wear odd socks, I never seem to find a pair that is a pair. Have a good week avec famille.

Either those are extremely big Lego bricks or The Cherub is very tiny.

I have either all black, or all white, socks. It makes life easier.

They are counterfeit Lego. We bought a huge bag-full at a boot sale.

What a sweet little boy. He's really growing, too.

Might be Duplo (made by Lego for toddlers). Or at least was when the Angel was the Cherub's age. It's a large (literally) version of Lego. A sort of 101 intro before their fingers get nimble.

No matter how short the visit, having your family around has to be such a treat. More memories to make. I am jealous.

He's an absolute sweetie; scruffy curly hair, cute face, and very determined.

Yes it's lovely; especially in these difficult times.

I love the way he is wearing odd socks. A shame they have to grow up really.

Boo Boo is adorable and must be a pleasure to have, even for a short visit. He is very fashion forward wearing sox featuring two complementary patterns.

Good to have them staying however briefly.
It's a year since I have seen any of our joint families and even longer since seeing the grandies. I envy you gently

If only they could leave those voices behind. In the corners, up and down the stairs, you know. Little "Grandpa's" in the night.

What a nice idea. My late mother left her voice behind, and I heard her calling my name for years after she died.

The only ones we don't see too often are the Aussie brigade; for obvious reasons.

It's Mischa in the photo. Boo Boo was busy on an adventure.

They come down to the house first thing in the morning, and only reluctantly go back home for random grazing. It's wonderful.

There should be in injection they could have to preserve them young. The Cherub is at a wonderful age.

Usually he doesn't even wear socks, he prefers to be bare footed.
