Lady M: I'm washing your best shorts and stripey T shirt.
Cro: Oh, thank you darling; did you empty the pockets?
Lady M: Of course.
Cro: Did you find my bank notes?
Lady M: What bank notes?
Cro: The ones in my pocket.
Lady M: Which pocket?
Cro: They were in that side pocket on the right.
Lady M: OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Let no-one say that Cro goes around, handing out dirty bank notes; mine are the cleanest in Christendom.

Damn... Lettice got there first!
Anyway, they'll iron nicely!
I remember a student friend of mine doing this in the early 1970s and the money turning to pulp. He wept.
It happened to me more than once.
Mine, as you can see, stood up to the rigorous cleaning.
An imprisonable offence?
I think they must be made of plastic; best not iron them.
I'm sure I suffered the same thing; just like chewed paper.
Maybe it will again!
Are they plastic? I've yet to put a british note through the wash so don't know how the plastic ones come out.
No idea; but nothing would surprise me. They certainly came through intact!
Hope you're going to iron them as well.
What, me? No I'll get someone else (?) to do it.
My Retired Man and I have a finder’s, keepers agreement on money found in the wash. Whoever empties the washer gets to keep any money found. It is the same with coins in the couch. One of us has done well.
That sounds very one-sided! As there is only one person who puts bank notes through the wash, it could easily been done on purpose. I (of course) ALWAYS empty pockets before washing.
We have all been there. Usually mine has coins, crumpled rec'ts. You struck the motherlode.
I often hear strange sounds coming from within the tub; they usually turn-out to be coins. Clean coins.
