Let's all Boycott TMS.

With Cricketer Kimbo in residence, our afternoons are occasionally peppered with short bursts of Test Match Special.

Test Cricket no longer appears on BBC TV, so instead we have to listen on radio. I should add that the last time I watched international Test Cricket on TV was in the days of Botham, Richards, Marsh, Gower, etc; when Cricket was in its heyday.

One compensation of the BBC's radio coverage are the wise words of Geoffrey Boycott, for whom nothing is ever of any acceptable standard.

It should be noted here that Boycott was one of the most tedious, slowest, and best, of all England batsmen, and his down-to-earth commentaries (filled with Yorkshire wisdom) are pure pleasure. He rubbishes just about everything that ever stepped-out onto hallowed turf (except for himself, of course).

It'll be a sad day when Mr Boycott no longer offers his opinions. An even sadder day if Aunty was to stop her TMS broadcasts.

I haven't seen cricket in many many years. I think the last time was somewhere in England, a friendly Sunday match on a village Green.
Although they cricket in corfu we never hear about the game here

The last and only time I ever watched cricket on tv was the 1974/75 Ashes when Ian and Greg Chappell annihilated England.

You really can't expect me to comment on cricket.

I really wasn't expecting ANYONE to comment on this.

You should have turned off, and thought of England.

I imagine that Corfu has a large British contingent, a bit like some towns here where Cricket is also played.

The dreaded Sky blue screen. Can't you get it on your tablet? Radio 4Extra are doing a long season of 'Gay Britania' but I did enjoy an old half hour of Round the Horn this morning.

I receive my Radio 4 Extra through my internet radio, and the WiFi doesn't reach my Summer outdoor bedroom. I'm really missing it.

I last watched at test match live in 1975 at the Lancashire CCC of which I was a member (largely because I could see the ground from my office window and pop over for a quick watch at lunchtime). Now I've largely lost interest in cricket and haven't listened to TMS for well over 10 years. Of course as a part-time Kiwi cricket was mandatory as was rugby.

I used to be a member at Sussex in the days when Imran Khan was still there. However, I prefer to watch village cricket than county cricket.

The only thing I know about Cricket is be very careful if you play it.
On all the British Mysteries I watch, each has at least one to three killings of some member of the team.
Who knew the game could be so deadly !

cheers, parsnip

It's also quite a dangerous game to play. Hard ball, little protection, etc.

Dare I whisper that I know absolutely nothing about cricket and do really find it rather boring.

For a Yorkshire lass, that's a hanging offence.

We joined Surrey at the Oval to watch one day's match and it rained and no play. Now it's the TV everytime.
