In Spring all our trees were overloaded with flowers, but only now can we see what fruit we'll actually be getting. This was the Bramley in April.
And here it is now. It never fails, and is fully loaded. Otherwise our harvest looks to be much smaller than anticipated.
We have a few Pears, not a bad crop of Apples, but not nearly as many Peaches as we'd hoped. Our Plums are dismal, most of our Greengages are wormy, and our table Grapes rather thin on the vine. The Figs, of course, are abundant (they always are).
I don't want to sound as if I'm moaning; we will have plenty of fruit, just not the huge amount we were expecting.
The worst bit is having to wait another WHOLE YEAR to see if the 2014 crop will do any better.
p.s. Still no ripe Tomatoes!

I've never had a Bramley. What do they taste like?
We've had three ripe tomatoes in the U.P. and you are in the south of France...how can that be?!
Very difficult to describe a taste. They are cooking apples, so not sweet. But mostly they taste of concentrated APPLE, in fact they are probably the most APPLE tasting of all apples; therefore perfect for pies, crumbles etc. Once tasted, never forgotten!
I blame the leprechauns, they're bound to be behind all this nature meddling. We do have some cherry tomatoes, but no bigguns!
VERY envious of those Bramleys. Fruit trees don't do well up here on the moor so we stick with what grows on a bush.

I have apples too this year - one plum tree is full the other empty - only one pear the rest dropped off very early on and only one bunch of grapes - pathetic.
I have no apples, I have no figs, I have no peaches, but I do have tons of tomatoes.
Yum yum....apple pie!!
Tomatoes are wonderful though!
