The LEAST We Should Expect.

Politics is rearing its VERY UGLY head again almost everywhere. Time to insist that we ALL have the right to certain services and standards.

Ring-fencing should be obligatory for Health, Education, Law-n-Order, Defence, and Pensions. Subsequently we should make sure that the 'unfortunates' of society are properly looked after, criminals safely locked up, and undesirables either kept out or booted out..

Agriculture, Roads, Power, Communications, The Arts, and Sport should all be next in line.

Then, only when institutionalised WASTE has been TOTALLY eliminated.... if there's anything left.... Benefaction.

When will our politicians understand this.  Is it really too much to demand of how they spend our money?

    1. It just seems as if all that is essential in life is being downgraded, and all that isn't is having cash thrown at it like there's no tomorrow. If we're not careful, things could go very wrong.

All politicians rub me up the wrong way!

    2. Ay! I know what you are saying - there is something perverse about someone who wants to be a politician!

  2. I prefer to think of my politicians these days as caretakers. They should be there simply to keep the country secure, the lights working and the floors mopped and shiny in case of visitors. While they deserve a decent salary and adequate budget to do that with, the rest most definitely does not belong to them - snouts out of the trough!

It's not like any of them are terribly adventurous, exciting or inspiring - or even decorative. Giving the number of apes banging away in Westminster I'm surprised that parts of Hansard don't mirror the texts of Shakespeare, just by accident.

    Harrumph.

  3. The problem is that most politicians these days have never lived in the 'real' world or had a proper job. They go from school to university to do a degree in politics and thence to work within Westminster. Most of the present lot not only would have no idea of how life is for people on low incomes/benefits but would struggle to understand how life is for most of us 'average joes'!

  5. We in the states are going through our every four year horror show of a Presidential election. The money that is being thrown at this exercise is obscene. So many lives could be made better if the funds were directed elsewhere. Power is expensive, very expensive.

  7. Since you're feeling down on politics today, you may appreciate this. The candidates are so awful this year, (even worse than usual)I think the republicans must be suffering from a severe case of "electile dysfunction." (Can't get excited by any of the candidates!)
