Mary Berry's Easter Simnel Cake.
Lady Magnon's Easter Simnel Cake.
I've never tasted a Simnel Cake, but the ingredients sound good. We haven't broached it yet; I'll let you know.
A diverse offering twixt the interesting, the unusual, and the amusing.
Interesting cake:) I shall google it later after my weekly visit at my fother's in Tel-Aviv.Have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteYou too Yael. Weather looking OK here for the holidays.
DeleteIt looks even better than the one in the book. You are very lucky that Lady Magnon cooks/bakes so well; you certainly eat well in your house. I wish you and Lady Magnon a happy (delicious!) Easter! Greetings Maria xx
ReplyDeleteI was amused to see that she'd even tried to imitate the wavy edge! We'll taste it this afternoon.
DeleteCompliments to the cook, it looks delicious. Happy eating and Happy Easter to you both.
ReplyDeleteThank you, and to you too.
DeleteYou can't go wrong with Mary's recipes. The cake looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteTime will tell. It looks good enough to eat!
DeleteVery pretty, and looks delicious. Lady Magnon must have a lot of patience to have made that topping,....I would have just done a slather of butter icing and made a pattern in it with a fork, just to get the job done!
ReplyDeleteIt surprised me too. She's just told me that she's doing more Hot X Buns today; my diet is suffering.
DeleteThere seems to be an awful lot of cakes around this Easter. Are you having visitors?
ReplyDeleteNo, she's simply gone cake-mad!
DeleteHmm. I'd like to give it a try but I'm not a great cake eater really.
ReplyDeleteI'm not normally either, but I'm given my instructions; and obey.
DeleteSimnel Cake is wonderful... but I see that Judas is present on Lady Magnon's cake!!
ReplyDeleteShe mentioned something about being 11 eggs on top; I suppose I'll have to eat a couple.
DeleteLady M is truly talented...enjoy your cake.
ReplyDeleteShe's just recently started cake making... she loves it.
DeleteI can resist the cake bit - but marzipan sends me into ecstasy.
ReplyDeleteMe too, but I'm not allowed it.
DeleteOh my goodness! That looks fabulous! I adore Mary Berry. Please report back after you taste the cake. ..although I would hate to cut it, it's so pretty!
ReplyDeleteJust had some. Delicious, but a little sweet. As I always do, I've asked for half the amount of sugar next time.
DeleteMary Berry is featuring a lot Cro .... Lady M's version looks brilliant and I'm sure that it will taste lovely.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter to you both. XXXX
All her recipes seem to work, and the descriptions are easy to follow. MB can do no wrong in Lady M's book.
DeleteIt looks scrumptious. Happy Easter.
ReplyDeleteVery good. Another MB success.
DeleteMB is such a sensible, down to earth cook, isn't she? So much more practical than the preposterous divas on so many cookery programmes.
DeleteI'm not a cake maker myself, but her recipes do all seem very clear and successful.
DeleteOh My Goodness that cake looks beautiful and yummy. Perfect with a cup of coffee I think.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter.
cheers, parsnip
It is delicious.
DeleteDoes Lady M let you lick the bowl, spoon and beaters after she's got the cake in the oven?
ReplyDeleteWe have a dog for that. Very grateful he is too.
DeleteCutest thing in the world for me was seeing chocolate frosting on my husband's chin.
