    I think it is some kind of plant because the "stalks" seem to coming from something dark. Either that or you have shaved your head, dyed your scalp a dark color and this is new growth. If that's case, congratulations because it looks very thick with no split ends.

    I can spot a (pubic?) hair trapped toward the top left corner, so I am guessing it's a sort of bath body-brush, like an artificial luffa. It is amazing what you can see in photos which escapes the naked eye.

    Eileen above has now guessed correctly. It was in fact my old NAILBRUSH. I had just replaced it, and it was hanging about waiting to be thrown away, or used for some other purpose. Thank you everyone.
