Whilst most of you are (probably) still in the Land of Nod, Cro is out there cleaning. I love this time of day, it's so calm and peaceful; even my daily cleaning chores become a pleasure.
Sweeping, tidying, extracting lizards from the skimmers; it's all in a morning's work. The actual pool itself remains remarkably clean, I only need to vacuum the bottom once every 3 or 4 days.
But it's not only cleaning which needs to be done. With our current daily temperatures of 38 C, the pool loses a lot of water to evaporation, and it needs to be topped-up every couple of days. All pool owners know that if the level falls too much, the skimmers will begin to suck in air rather than water, and this isn't good for the pump.
The pool water is around 28 C, it's a bit like swimming in warm oil. However, rather than stay indoors all day, we do throw ourselves in several times, just for light relief.
The above photo was taken at around 7.15 am, AFTER I'd finished my cleaning.
It all looks and sounds lovely apart from the temperature.
ReplyDeleteIt's actually reaching 40 C at times; far too hot for both of us. We mostly stay indoors in the afternoons and read or do crosswords!
DeletePhew! 38c to 40c. That's quite a rarity back here in blighty. But I wonder if you can really cool off in the pool when the water is actually quite warm.
ReplyDeleteBut yes, the very early part of the mornings are quite magical. It's like you have a head start to begin the day when all is quiet.
The pool water was 29 C yesterday. As I said above, it's a bit like swimming in warm oil. Not very refreshing, but it keeps us fit. Yes, early mornings are the best.
DeleteThat is a lovely photo.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Sunshine!
I should have been singing that, shouldn't I. Maybe tomorrow morning.
DeleteThe Land of Nod is a real place near Holme on Spalding Moor in East Yorkshire. I have been there. It's really just two farms at the end of a long straight lane.
ReplyDeleteWas anyone awake when you visited?
DeleteFunny you should say that for they were all in The Land of Nod.
DeleteAs I suspected!
DeleteA beautiful time of the day.
ReplyDeleteNot very nice at the moment. The sky is hazy, and it's very humid. It feels stormy.
DeleteBeautiful photo. Worth getting up early to see that sunrise
ReplyDeleteIt was beautiful, but such things are seen everywhere.
DeleteEarly morning and sunrise are generally cooler and quiet, except for birds chirping and the occasional bunny or chipmunk scampering across the lawn.
ReplyDeleteYour pool looks great! Nice work Cro.
Strangely there is no 'dawn chorus' here at the moment. But we do have a group of Ibis's with the cows down in the valley. I love to see them in harmony with each other.
DeleteA pool I’m jealous so xxxx
ReplyDeleteIt's not all splish splash splosh, there a lot of maintenance too. A good 30 mins every day.
DeleteThat is just how the sun is on most of my morning walks with the dog. Just a golden orb, not yet giving off horrendous strength sapping heat, as it does later in the day. It's never very noisy here but at 7 a.m., or thereabouts, the silence is palpable. A wonderful way to start the day.
ReplyDeleteI must confess to having a pool cleaner, who keeps the water sparkling. It's mostly 30ÂșC+ at the moment, so no good for a refreshing swim.
