UK and US relations.

Now that Trump is back in The White House, I suspect that he might soon begin to reek revenge on those who've 'wronged him'. This will not only cover politicians in the US, but also in foreign countries that he feels have either insulted him, or have sided with the opposition; unfortunately both of these can be attributed to the UK.

It is never wise for a politician to insult a foreign dignitary. Nor is it wise to meddle with politics in the middle of a foreign election campaign. Senior politicians should know this, and follow protocol. Such criticism should be the domain of the media; if at all! When my late Father-in-Law was dealing with Stalin in Moscow, the last thing he would have done was to go around insulting him. As a diplomat, he knew better!

Our Foreign Secretary, David Lammy, recently called Trump an idiot, reprehensible, a sociopath, and an absolute moron; and several Labour Party activists went to the US during the election period to canvas for lack-luster Harris. Everyone knew that Trump was bound to win, so how they thought this would help UK/US relations; I cannot imagine.

I quite expect that Trump will visit the UK sometime soon, but will he meet government representatives? I doubt it. He will be invited to the palace by King Charles, but I very much doubt if he will be dining at No 10.

Trump revels in revenge, and it remains to be seen how he will deal with his enemies both over here, and back home. Trade tariffs for the UK maybe? Certainly he will show support for the Tory and Reform parties over the Socialists. We all know that he is very anti woke left wing policies, so be prepared.

The great, the rich, and the good, gathered for a pre-inauguration knees-up (below). My fingers are crossed that it all goes well for them. I hope that he also remembers that he needs to look after the poorest as well. The Tory Party's 'One Nation' attitude, must always be the best policy.

He certainly has the support of some of the most important people in the US; he won't want to upset them; not too soon anyway!

  1. I feel that Donald Trump will rise above the Labour party's childish insults and hopefully he'll treat them with the disdain they deserve.
I'm pleased that the world is a safer place. I hope I'm not wrong.

    1. A strong man has replaced a very weak man. I hope that goes well too.

  2. In truth, the US has not had a president for most of the past four years. 'Uncle' Joe was nominally sitting in the chair, but he was just the useful idiot who's strings were being pulled by others in the shadows. At least with Trump in the White House we will know where the buck stops. As regards his attitude towards the UK, I suspect that he has considerable regard for the country but utter disdain for most of the top figures in the government. It will be interesting to see how that plays out.

    1. That is my feeling exactly. He will associate with those who remain neutral, but will have nothing to do with folk like Lammy.

  3. You can't predict what Trump will do or say and how he will act. He certainly seems enamoured of the British Royals

  4. So... what's the verdict on Elon Musk's Nazi salute?

  5. It gives me hope to note that 99% of the American bloggers I have connected with here in the blogosphere are anti-Trump Democrats.

    1. Does that mean that they were pro-Harris Democrats? I really don't know much about US politics, but I expect Trump will be a tough cookie.

    2. Actually Cro, I think you've precisely hit the point. Obviously the majority of voters did not want four more years of dealing with an ineffective leader. Do I like Trump? No. Prefer him over Joe/Kamala? Yes.

    3. The impression I get is that Harris was not up to the job. Another five years with a weak leader would not have been in the world's best interests.

  6. I'm so glad that I wasn't invited to the pre inaugural knees-up. As a matter of principle I would have had to decline....!

  7. The inauguration ceremony was pretty awful compared to our ceremonies. Lauren Sánchez, Jeff Bezos' fiancée , wore a low cut jacket with just a bra underneath and a senator was wearing shorts. The Trump family looked very smart ... I think they had taken a leaf out of the Royal Family's book !..... and technical issues forced Carrie Underwood to sing ' America the Beautiful ' a capella !!! The tech guy had one job !!!!
David Lammy might just be the worst Foreign Secretary we have ever had ! XXXX

    1. I didn't watch the ceremony, I was on dog-walking duties. Lammy is a disgrace; pure and simple.

  8. Dump hates being insulted or distained. He will therefore only seek company with those who kiss his butt where he can be confident he won't be argued with, face to face. That should eliminate a lot of foreign countries' political leaders who have already made their feelings known.

    1. He likes his friends and allies to be 'go-getters'. He hates the woke generation, and people he sees as weak. He thinks of himself as 'King of the World'.

  10. DT has set a Billionaire's executive club to lead the US and let's admit influence much of the world.
US-UK relations are a big question. KS and DT are like oil and water. Hopefully, King Charles can smooth things over. Also, DT likes to think of himself as royalty...King of the World.

    1. The one thing I REALLY don't like about Trump is his arrogance. He reminds me of Mussolini, with all his pomposity. As for his politics, I just hope he doesn't do anything crazy.

  11. Don’t worry. Elon Musk is a great entrepreneur and a very clever man and his intentions are good. Don’t lose any sleep over the fact that climate changes. Don’t lose sleep over the fact that oceans will rise, there will be more extreme weather. These things happen and as long as we old farts can have a reasonable life for the next 10-20 years who cares.

What we should be more worried about is the socialist UK government. The answer to their problems is to cull all pensioners.

    1. I have nothing against successful entrepreneurs, they employ vast amounts of people, and keep the world turning. Climate change is cyclical. I think the aim of the UK Socialists is to spend as little as possible on OAP's, and spend more on things like giving away our territories, and other 'woke' policies.
