There are only a few things to do in periods of bad weather (we still don't have a TV); amongst which are to light fires, do crosswords, or go mushrooming.
Our current weather of warmth and showers is perfect for the growing of Girolles. It's a delicious mushroom; perfect for omelets. After the Cèpe, it must be France's favourite mushroom.
A few minutes in the woods supplied the ones below.
The Girolle (unlike most mushrooms) needs to be washed under running water whilst cleaning and trimming, and all the remaining water first needs to be evaporated before the actual frying process can begin. Then just add a couple of beaten eggs, and we have our favourite lunch.
Hmmmm! Delicious

Good heavens! You're up early Crozier! I applaud the fact that you don't have a TV. It's a double-edged sword if ever there was one - that's for sure. It's surprising there's no tomato ketchup on your girolle omelette.
I'm up at exactly 5 am every morning. We have now replaced our stolen TV, but we're not sure if it'll work. We're awaiting the Zapper that goes with it, but we're not sure if our old Skybox will still bring any UK TV.
I imagine that warm damp weather would have been perfect growing weather for Haddocks..... in days of old.
Just how warm is it if you are lighting fires?
Your breakfast looks pretty good.
I hope your rain stops so that you can enjoy your outdoor frolics again.
Yesterday was drizzly all day long with max temp' of 18 C. In fact we were a bit too warm, but I did bake a few spuds.
I'm not long back from another sortie, and a few more Girolles, so another omelet today!
Yum!!
We had another for lunch. Delicious.
We find morel mushrooms here in the spring. I save my washing water and spread it in the yard for mushroom "seeding" for next year. It does work.
Your mushrooms look so good. I always just dust in flour and fry in butter...can't beat butter for taste.
I use Garlic and Herb Butter. Lovely.
Mmm! That's a tasty looking lunch!
Your egg-mushroom meal looks terrific.
Nothing better!
It was. I shall go out mushrooming again this morning.
Nature's bounty - you can't beat it!
