The Last Supper.

These days you have to book well in advance to see Leonardo da Vinci's 'Last Supper' which is situated in the refectory at the convent of St Maria delle Grazie in Milan. Maybe this was always the case, but as I've not been there myself, I wasn't aware.

Here is Kimbo admiring the painting yesterday. He took his younger son, Ollie, to see it as a birthday present.

My daughter and two grandsons are now with us, and we've moved over to Kimbo's house. He'll soon return to a house full of old-fogies who will no doubt disrupt his life. My daughter & Co go to Paris for a while before Christmas, the boys want to see the sights. We might even move back home for a few days; we'll see.

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas. Stay warm; it's freezing here, and we're expecting a week of rain!

    1. I've just looked at our weather; 4 C (rising to 7 C) with light rain and snow. What could be worse?

  2. The weather here is wonderful, the sun is shining and the sky is blue, I ignored all the news this morning and it seems as if the world is normal, for a few hours or a few minutes.

    1. Good weather makes a huge difference to how we feel, even in troublesome times.

  3. yes, its begining to feel a bit like Christmas. Snowed here in the night. Last night we went to the switching on of the lights. They excelled themselves this year with fireworks ,fairground rides, a Nordik bar, in a big teepee type tent. with a big fire inside, skating rink, snow globes( to stand inside and have your photo taken, free) and the usual food places, at ordinary prices. Enjoyed it.

It takes ages so I do a few each day. Your grandchildren are getting such a good education through travel aren't they ? XXXX

  5. George, Finn and Tenpin must feel as if they have moved into the annex of an old folks' home - what with the cans of strange, wartime food in the cupboard, Lady Magnon's talcum powder puff on the dresser, the "Dig for Victory" poster on the stairs and your false teeth in a jam jar by the bed.

  6. Sunny and a blue sky today, but much colder than it's been since last March!
Never sure which are the official town decorative lights here, they seem to be around all year!
My neighbours across the road have their huge Ikea stars up and illuminated. They are so big I don't need to bother with any decorations - I can just enjoy theirs instead!

  8. Your large family gathering sounds wonderful and having everybody at the table(s) for the holiday meal will be fantastic. I love the the "Last Supper" painting and have a nice reproduction. It is raining in Massachusetts too. It is 42 degrees F which is mild for December. You can send your cold and snow to me, I am ready for a white Christmas.

  11. No worries about staying warm here, it's 34C today and going to be warm all week.
I've seen pictures of that painting so would not feel any need to be lining up to see the real thing.

  12. I'm sorry I haven't replied to all your comments, I'm living between two homes and my laptop always seems to be where I'm not. This maybe the case for a while.

  13. It's chilly here in the Cotswolds. We live in the delightful town of Woodstock (Blenheim Palace is the big draw here) and the town is at its best at this time of the year. Beautiful lights throughout the town, a huge Christmas tree donated by the Duke of Marlborough and every shop window decorated. I have the majority of the Christmas shopping completed, but not wrapped, as we all have December birthdays. Mine was yesterday, my twin boys is today and my husband's is on the 6th. It's a busy time of year.

    1. Woodstock was on our route from Sussex to Shropshire and we always stopped at the butcher to buy his pies. They were superb.
