What exactly is "the woke brigade"? It is a term I have seen bandied about but I have no idea what it means. Was Martin Luther King Jr a member of "the woke brigade"?
Good for this guy imparting some hard, cold facts to to the protesters. Some protesters need a cause and facts mean nothing to them. They are brainwashed.
I'm not sure who the 'woke brigade' are either, but they seem to latch on to any cause that will make the most disruption to daily life. That guy was so right in what he said - we could do with more like him!
The only thing these people understand is to keep up with the protests and keep checking their bank balance. They won't suddenly feel guilty and go home.
He does make a good point, so much is made from oil and oil by-products. Try to imagine a world without plastics and detergents, oilbased paints, heating oil for your homes. Clothes made the old ways from only cotton, wool or leather. Hand stitched because sewing machines need oil. instead of stopping oil altogether a compromise must be found that everyone is happy with.
Of course! We should all try to throw less rubbish, heat our homes less, walk to work, etc. Small gestures would be far more productive than causing mayhem on our roads, and costing a fortune.

Optimistic Cro!
The difference between an optimist and a pessimist, is that the optimist enjoys himself whilst waiting for the inevitable! I AM that optimist!
This is a daily, optimistic, 'photos and comments' blog. I make no judgements (only occasionally), just notes. If you wish to comment in any way at all, please feel free. Everything and everyone (except the obdurate and dictatorial) is very welcome.
I was born just south of London, but for the past 50 years I've lived in S W France. I am a painter by profession, and writer by desire. Lady Magnon and I live between an ancient cottage in a tiny village in perfectly tranquil French countryside, and a bijou townhouse in Brighton UK. In France we have plenty of fruit trees, all situated amongst a view that takes the breath away, in the UK we have a handkerchief sized patio. We also have a Border Collie called Billy. I try to treat our planet with respect, and encourage others to do likewise (without preaching).
Contentment is a glass of red, a plate of charcuterie, and a slice of good country bread. Perfect!

ReplyDeleteI don't really know who they are, but I do know that they wear their brains inside-out.
DeleteThe best birthday pressie that i have had today. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteHypocrisy is their middle name.

ReplyDeleteThey are told what to think, but fail to think for themselves.

ReplyDeleteI think there must be a 'Woke Central' where the silliest of ideas are hatched, then distributed to the sheep.
DeleteHe was good. I wonder if any of the protesters had a second thought and went home. Or even googled the subject
ReplyDeleteHe was just an ordinarily intelligent guy, but try to get these people to understand; no chance!

DeleteIsn't it sad that the true meaning of the word "woke" has been forgotten , and now it is used as a slur?
ReplyDeletePersonally I don't think 'slur' is enough; they're all bonkers, and are trying to change society for the worse.

DeleteI thought exactly the same Cro.
