Latest toys.

These wonderful toys were given to me by my son, Kimbo, for my upcoming birthday. They might look like church candles, but they're not!

They are bluetooth mobile (and waterproof) speakers, called 'Ultimate Ears', for poolside music listening. What a great idea.

You can hang them in the trees, hide them in flower pots, or use them as earrings. We could probably even strap them to Billy like paniers, for a more random mobile experience. The sound quality is very good, and even if they were to fall in the pool, they still work.

Thank you darling; a great prezzie.

    1. These are very good. They're not designed for huge outdoor areas, but for most gardens/pools they are perfect.

  2. You forgot to put you Opinel in the pic to give us an idea of size.

    1. Silly me! They are 4 ins high, and 3.5 ins in diameter. About the size of a tin of beans.

  3. Or you could sit by the pool and enjoy the peaceful silence.

    1. They are. Listening to music outdoors has always been a bit haphazard. Now we can control both the volume and the stereo.

  5. Bluetooth speakers are wonderful.

    1. And these ones are so small in comparison to sound quality.

    2. Digital bass tricks the ears. You would think it was coming out of an old radiogram.

  6. As I listen to Hill's 7th Symphony on my similar size bluetooth speaker as I write this, I'm always astounded at the quality of the sound. The only trouble is that one has to have the source device (in this case the iPhone in my pocket) reasonably near to it.

    1. Yes, my laptop needs to be within 100 metres of the speakers; but good enough for most situations.

    2. That's absolutely amazing, Cro. Bluetooth is supposed to have a cut-off of 10 metres.

    3. I haven't tried them at that distance, but that's what the blurb says!
