EU Elections.
On May 23rd, the UK will be holding its MEP elections, only this time it's in name only. The election, which is estimated to cost the UK over £150 Million, is to elect MEP's who will more than likely not take their seats in Brussels.
In other words...... A TOTAL BLOODY WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY.
Well done chaps. Yet another example of a giant fat-burg in the Westminster pipes.
And, thank you to the Lower IVth Recorder Band for their rendition of our National Anthem; an hour's detention for the lot of you!
Sounds like they're trying to clean that fat-burg out of the pipes. I've just been watching 'yes, prime minister' on YouTube. Would love to see Sir Humphreys reaction! Brilliant show.
I wonder if the newly elected will get all the pay & expenses plus money for being ex MEPs and a pension. To elect Brexit/Ukip supporters now will not change anything as they made no change 5/6 years ago.
And, over here in the USA just look at the farce of The Mueller Report wasting $30 Million on NOTHING. We are all in the same boat with POLITICIANS who only think of getting re-elected, who spend 95% of their time raising moneyt to get re-elected and who do nothing with the other 5%. I am hoping we have a landslide victory for our President and his party next year just so SOMETHING can be accomplished for the good of our country! Please tell me what you think of what's happening on this side of the pond?

Optimistic Cro!
The difference between an optimist and a pessimist, is that the optimist enjoys himself whilst waiting for the inevitable! I AM that optimist!
This is a daily, optimistic, 'photos and comments' blog. I make no judgements (only occasionally), just notes. If you wish to comment in any way at all, please feel free. Everything and everyone (except the obdurate and dictatorial) is very welcome.
I was born just south of London, but for the past 50 years I've lived in S W France. I am a painter by profession, and writer by desire. Lady Magnon and I live between an ancient cottage in a tiny village in perfectly tranquil French countryside, and a bijou townhouse in Brighton UK. In France we have plenty of fruit trees, all situated amongst a view that takes the breath away, in the UK we have a handkerchief sized patio. We also have a Border Collie called Billy. I try to treat our planet with respect, and encourage others to do likewise (without preaching).
Contentment is a glass of red, a plate of charcuterie, and a slice of good country bread. Perfect!
I can just see Sir Humphrey telling PM Hacker why the elections must proceed.
ReplyDeleteCrazier and crazier. When will it end?
DeleteSounds like they're trying to clean that fat-burg out of the pipes.
ReplyDeleteI've just been watching 'yes, prime minister' on YouTube. Would love to see Sir Humphreys reaction! Brilliant show.
That show was closer to the truth than we ever imagined.
DeleteThat Ian Dury song-"What a waste" comes to mind.
ReplyDeleteI can think of plenty of politicians who would be better employed as a ticket man at Fulham Broadway station.
DeleteI wonder if the newly elected will get all the pay & expenses plus money for being ex MEPs and a pension. To elect Brexit/Ukip supporters now will not change anything as they made no change 5/6 years ago.
ReplyDeleteIf their pensions are based on time served as an MEP, then presumably it will amount to ZILCH.
Delete*holds head in hands and sighs*.....
ReplyDeleteI despair.
Delete£150 million is nothing to what Brexit has cost to date. Thomas Cook alone has lost 1.5 billion.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lot to spend on a pointless exercise. They could have given it to ME!
DeleteThomas Cook is German owned. They let children die in death trap accommodation and dont even say sorry. Nobody uses them since.
DeleteGosh that was dire. They were about as united as the country.
ReplyDeleteThe almost perfect rendition for today's UK.
