Katie Hopkins' inimitable view of the Shamima Begum affair.
19 year old Ms Begum was either born in Bangladesh or England; no-one seems to know.
At age 15 she stole some money, and her sister's passport, and secretly flew off to Syria to become a willing 'comfort girl' for some Dutch ISIS terrorist that she'd never met.
Now that defeat is in the air for ISIS, and her killer 'husband' is in prison, the dream is over and she wishes to return to the comforts of her home in E London. Since her time in Syria she has given birth to three babies; the latest of which is the sole survivor.
The UK Home Secretary has said 'NO' to her return, so she is now stateless.
Personally I would like to see her prosecuted, but not cosseted at the expense of the British taxpayer. Maybe she should go through the courts in Syria, as it would have been there that any serious crimes would have been committed.
In the UK, her minor peccadillos would hardly warrant a slap on the wrist. Now read on.....

My instinct says let her make her own way in the Middle East. But I believe people can't be made stateless when they have a right to citizenship of one country. Whether she was born in the UK is probably a moot point as via her parents she should have the right to citizenship of Bangladesh. It is a pity the commentator spoilt her piece by saying 'good British name' and I would think alienating those in the UK who aren't a Smith or a Wilson.
Katie Hopkins is not known for being 'PC'. I agree with you, there are plenty of 'good British people' with foreign sounding names. She does herself no favours.
This is terrible.....Poor girl. I'll check when it gets light but I'm almost certain that the cupboard where I store my Givafuks is empty.

A strange case, but encouraging to read that somebody in the corridors of power developed enough back-bone to say No.
Maybe they should continue in this vein with a lot of other illegal immigrants?
She became too 'high profile' for Javid to say anything else. The ones who keep quiet slip in via the back door; and there are plenty of them.
She did herself no favours in saying the Manchester bombing was a good thing and she saw nothing wrong in the severed heads she saw in dustbins as they had obviously got what they deserved. I expect to see her back here inside 6 months.

The fuss will die down, it'll all go through the UK courts, and she'll be back almost unnoticed.

Shamima Begum is obviously not very bright. There are hundreds of foreign nationals who would probably like to return home to their countries of origin, but their countries would prefer they were tried in Syria or elsewhere. If a tribune was set up for war crimes as it was in Nuremberg at the end of WW2, they would have to return to serve their sentences in any case. They would not be hanged if the E.U. laws were in place.
Every time I see a 'headscarf' on the streets of my country I fume. Maybe its because I can remember when there were none.
I dread to think about the future for my Grandchildren.

Apart from anything else, she is pretty dim.
She said the Manchester bombing was justified, Andrew. I agree with Tom, she is dim.
I kinda feel she should stay where she is until brought to trial but I also don't see how she can be made stateless. Bring the baby back to her parents by all means. I think she'll eventually get back to the UK (even though she seems both dim and unrepentant). Not sure I would like to be her coming back though.

I'm afraid I'm afflicted by my training and my inability to see one side without seeing the other.
I think she would, on balance, be more of a threat to the UK inside the UK than outside it. Therefore I think she should be denied access. That would also save on the 24 hour police protection she would have to be given if she returned and the secret service time spent in monitoring her.
However, if she doen't apply for Bangladesh citezenship to which she is entitled intil she is 21 but which she has no obligation to apply for, she will be stateless. Under international law no-one can be stateless. Ergo if it comes to trial she will almost certainly have cer citizenship re-instated.
As for Katie Price's statement about British names, that undermined any credible arguments she made.
A traitor and supporter of terrorism. And incredibly dim to boot.

'Assimilation' seems to be a dirty word for certain sections of society. I would have thought that blending in with your newly adopted country was essential in order to feel at home.
If (when) she does get back, she'll probably need round the clock protection. She should now lie low for a while, and keep her mouth shut.
re your final para; it was a very stupid thing to say. Unfortunately Ms Hopkins (not Price) is known for her big mouth, and has little control over it. She often speaks for a lot of people, then ruins it when she makes such silly comments.
That just about sums her up.
Her father lives in Bangladesh and has no sympathy for her.
