RIP Alice.
Very sad to hear that the lovely Emma Chambers has died unexpectedly aged 53. Who could forget her fabulous portrayal of the charmingly dim-witted Alice Tinker in The Vicar of Dibley.
Here she is at her wedding to Hugo, complete with her Teletubby bridesmaids.
Very sad so young. I noticed in her obituary this morning that her brother and sister founded the famous Storm model agency, and still run it, who of course discovered Kate Moss.
Such sad news ...... such a brilliant actress ... loved her in Notting Hill as well. I just read that she had asthma attacks. Charlotte Coleman, another lovely actress who was in Four Weddings, died age 33 from an asthma attack. XXXX
Cro, not sure if you watch BBC TV, but the episode of Alice's wedding has just been shown as a tribute. As delightful as it was 20 odd years ago. Emma had such perfect timing, naturally funny, such a loss. RIP.
THE BELLS ..... THE BELLS ..........

Optimistic Cro!
The difference between an optimist and a pessimist, is that the optimist enjoys himself whilst waiting for the inevitable! I AM that optimist!
This is a daily, optimistic, 'photos and comments' blog. I make no judgements (only occasionally), just notes. If you wish to comment in any way at all, please feel free. Everything and everyone (except the obdurate and dictatorial) is very welcome.
I was born just south of London, but for the past 50 years I've lived in S W France. I am a painter by profession, and writer by desire. Lady Magnon and I live between an ancient cottage in a tiny village in perfectly tranquil French countryside, and a bijou townhouse in Brighton UK. In France we have plenty of fruit trees, all situated amongst a view that takes the breath away, in the UK we have a handkerchief sized patio. We also have a Border Collie called Billy. I try to treat our planet with respect, and encourage others to do likewise (without preaching).
Contentment is a glass of red, a plate of charcuterie, and a slice of good country bread. Perfect!
Very sad - lovely clip
ReplyDeleteMy favourite clip from the series.

DeleteHer particular style of comedy acting was a joyous talent.
ReplyDeleteShe was a one-off.

ReplyDeleteI don't think she made a bad film. Yes, poor Charlotte Coleman; she really made 4 weddings the success that it was.
DeleteSuch a shame, she was refreshingly unique. Lovely clip, which I've not seen before. I also loved her in Notting Hill.
ReplyDeleteShe was good in everything. This clip of the wedding is my favourite.
DeleteThat's the only V. of D. I have seen. Very funny. Sad.
ReplyDeleteThe best episode ever. Poor Alice.
ReplyDeleteSurprising news when I heard it today, at the very young age of 53. What a great role she played so well in VofD.
ReplyDeleteSo sad to hear this - a very talented actress and so effortlessly funny.
ReplyDeleteShe made people laugh and forget their troubles in her short life. She did good.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about Alice's passing. I enjoyed watching The Vicar, but had never seen that episode. Thanks for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteI feel sad when I realise that I have had thirty more years than she had - she was always a delight.
ReplyDeleteI loved the Vicar of Dibley so much and Alice was perfect, my favorite.
ReplyDeleteVery sad news.

We do get BBC, but I must have missed it. Shame; I'd loved to have seen it again.
