It always used to worry me that Freddie was wary of the dogs, so about 6 years ago I started to train him!
At first I used to hold him so that Monty could lick his face. Monty being so big and strong, he used to almost take his face off, but I think Freddie actually liked it.
Then I used to hold him very close to the dogs so that he could see that they meant him no harm, and over the past year or so he's begun to be fine with Bok; even going as far as touching noses.
However, you can imagine my shock yesterday morning when I came downstairs to find the above scene (it was actually still quite dark).
I rushed to grab my camera, and was able to capture the moment.
I've always dreamt of the boys curling up together at night to keep each other warm, I think it's now one tiny step closer.

How sweet! I love it when cats and dogs are friends!
We still have a long way to go. When Sophie (Labrador) sees Kim the cat through the kiddie barrier she barks and rushes off or if she barks and stays then Kim tries to scratch her which is better than running away. (Small improvement)
Me too Jennifer; it just seems right somehow.
I think our two have finally come to an agreement.
You have trained it good. Nice to see both of them being friends and staying together. Good job!
Very satisfying. My hard work has paid-off.
What a beautiful sight! If only we could all live in harmony like that.
It made me smile all day. No repeat this morning though.
Reading what you say Cro I detect just a slight wariness in both of them, but it is a start/
We used to have a cat who adored the dog....delightful to watch.
Great photo.
All together now.....aaah ! Tabby cats are beautiful. My last one never ran from the dogs,( he had got used to the first dog I had) so they never chased !
A space heater that radiates heat is very good for getting pets to cozy up.
The lure of the woolly blanket was irresistible to Freddie on a cold morning even if Bok was near. Note Freddie is keeping at an angle so as not to touch Bok even by a whisker.
I'd just woken them up!
We haven't got that far yet, but I'm working on it.
I love Tabbies, to me they're REAL cats.
I remember that for when it gets cold. I might even try it myself.
He has a hidden tape measure; 10 centimetres and no more!
Our cats don't have dogs around but our youngest grandson, who has just started crawling and gets far to close to one cat, the older cat lets Will stroke her before she moves off.
That gives me hope.
There has to be a human analogy there somewhere.
That's lovely ..... perhaps they have both been missing Monty being around so they now need each other. XXXX
Good relationships often start with small steps. That is such a sweet picture.
My son has two dogs and a cat. The hugh Lab and cat love each other and curl up together all the time. They are best friends and it is adorable to see. The other dog tolerates the cat and occasionally will sit near him.
Really cute photo. They look like you discovered their secret. They like one another.
Babies seem to have a natural love of furry animals; not always reciprocated.
Hope for the whole world.
Anti racism?
They spend their lives together, so they might as well be friends.
But didn't realise it!
I just hope it lasts.
No they dont like each other!bok is hopeful but always will be dissapointed
The credit goes to Bok.
I suspect it's 'tolerance'.
I'm sure you're right.
