Wee Jimmy Sturgeon.

Nicola Sturgeon is 'demanding' a second referendum on Scottish Independence. Good for her!

The advantages of separation from the UK are numerous; here are just a few.

Scotland would no longer simply be a part of the UK, it would be a separate and proud independent country.

As an independent country, Scotland would be eligible to apply for membership of the highly successful European Union.

It would also (if granted membership) change its UK's Pounds for the much sought-after European Euros.

Scotland would also be able to free itself from the stranglehold of the 'Barnett Formula', which sees it receiving ridiculously generous hand-outs from Westminster; only just short of those paid to N Ireland.

All in all I can see the appeal. Their export market (for Whisky and Haggis) would be strengthened, their population would all become overnight millionaires, and Trump would probably build more Golf Courses.

I support Wee Jimmy 100%.

    1. I have a feeling that many English people would like to see an independent Scotland, just so they could laugh when it all goes wrong.

  2. They don't pay for prescriptions FGS. That alone should make them want to stay. I think the fight is centred more on pride than common sense.

  3. Not pride, but hatred of the English. Make no mistake, the SNP truly hate the English. Even with my experience of the SNP I am flabbergasted at their reaction to the referendum - a huge turnout and 55% voted to stay in the U.K. In a simple yes/no vote. Where is the ambiguity in that?
    They are tearing Scotland apart.

    1. Referenda are designed to divide a country. My impression for a second vote is that the 'stay' numbers will be even greater.

    2. That's my impression too. What will the daft bat do then?

  4. She just wants to put her name in the history books. Salmond ran away with his tail between his legs. All of the Mr's family (they are Scottish) have said they will vote to stay again, they think she is crazy. Freedom at any cost it would seem. The cities are rich and the rural areas are still seriously poor. I love Scotland, I really do. Will they be rebuilding Hardian's wall like Trump wants his Mexico wall? It makes me sad.

  5. It might be ok while they have oil revenues but I can see a time when the world won't need very much oil, and with the speed of emerging technology, that might be closer than we think. I agree it is very much about pride, and so who is to blame for not allowing them to take pride?

    1. I'm not even sure who 'owns' the oil, isn't it mostly English companies? After the last referendum, the price of oil plummeted... she was lucky they voted to stay.

    1. She'd HAVE to resign if they vote to stay. She won't be missed.

Finn's OK thanks. He'll have a blue lump for a while, but nothing worse.

  7. In reply to Andrew Scotland made £60 million out of oil last year. Most of what they have left is ridiculously difficult to extract and rely on a price of at least $100 a barrel.
The SNP think they are somehow being conned because last year Norway netted roughly £9 billion. However they have far more oil and gas which is more economical to extract.
As one SNP supporter said "All we have to do is put the price up". Yes really that is the depth of their thinking........

  11. You are all so misguided and wrong!.
We are such a proud little country who cares about each other that is why we invest in the people. No cost to the individual for prescriptions, eye tests dentist, check ups and university tuition.
Free prescriptions and treatment have paid for themselves as people don,t decide they can't afford prescription medication or treatment and get sicker.
All our children deserve the chance to get a good education not just the wealthy as in England.
We use our budgets to improve everyone's health and future. England could do the same but providing for the already wealthy and stigmatising children comes first. Horrific grammar school situation!.
We are all jock Tamsons bairns in Scotland.
Oh we pay more tax and Nat insurance but we are proud to.
No metered water, only pay pennies😀 with council
tax,we kind of have a never ending supply, sending it free downhill to England, perhaps we should charge by the gallon.
The mood of people I know is the game has changed now with brexit, we voted to stay overwhelmingly.
Freeedoooooom is on the horizon. Without a ball and chain from another country.
England would hate to be ruled from Scotland.
