The Diana Crash.

Diana Spencer seems to be back in the news again as yet more tales of her emotional instability are being revealed in some silly book or other. I was never a great fan of hers, but I wouldn't have wished her her eventual fate.

If anyone is still in doubt about how the Princess died, just look at this photo.

In the driver's (Henri Paul's) glasses you can clearly see the reflection of the motorcyclist paparazzi's camera flash. Back in 1997 flash bulbs were very, very, bright. If someone poked a flash in your eyes, even from a few metres away, you'd be blinded for quite some while. You can also see Rees-Jones lifting his hand to shield his eyes.

So, combine the effects of the speed he was doing to escape the wretched car-bound paparazzi, the fact that he had consumed some alcohol, and above all being blinded by numerous camera flashes from the motorcyclists, it was almost inevitable that an accident was about to happen.

Personally I blame the person who took the above photo (they crashed seconds later). The photo itself might have earned him a lot of money, but it also cost lives.

In the subsequent enquiry, the cameraman was hardly mentioned; he was certainly not blamed.

She loved the paparazzi.

Until they killed her!

I wasn't a great fan, either. It was a shame that she died that way, but alcohol + high speeds + paparazzi is bound to equal a bad outcome.

And it did. Not an end I would wish on anyone.

It was all a disaster from the day of her wedding in my opinion.

He should be blamed.

She transitioned from one select club to another.

They weren't wearing seat belts either and, new evidence reckons another car was involved as they entered the tunnel .... I think that there's a lot more to it than just the paparazzi but I'm not into conspiracy theories !!! XXXX

Absolutely. She should have stayed at her Nanny job.

There are lots of 'he's' who are to blame. But she did her bit; she was no saint.

Neither of which really suited her.

Who knows. But flashing blinding lights at them certainly didn't help.

I think you can safely say that if there was one particular group of people she despised, it was the paparazzi. I can see how so much fake news is generated on the net by saying something like 'she loved the paparazzi'.

Here's just one little example of how the press treated her: She was leaving a building one day, trying to avoid the crush of the paparazzi when one photographer tried to get a reaction by shouting, "Smile. You're supposed to be a fucking princess!"

She loved it.

The Royal Court wasn't really nice to her, and I still wonder why Charles married her, he never loved her, it's a quite hypocrite family. Always keep smiling and dirty things behind. It's easy to spot on her now.

The paparazzi are still making money off of her.

I think The Queen Mother tried to advise and calm her, but to no avail. She 'did it her way', and the rest is history.

And no doubt will continue to do so. Even more books will be written too.

Didn't they also shout "can you take your top off, love"?

No, I won't wear any mollification. He was supposed to be a professional driver and he did not deliver his passengers safely to their destination, something that Tube drivers and Paris Metro drivers do every day, year in and out.

Hopefully she did it her way. She was different and that seems not to be allowed. Charles had a double life and that seemed to be ok.

Maybe his car should have been on rails.

Yup!

I thought it was only in South Africa that the press has resurrected all sorts of theories about Diana's life and death!

Someone's just written an 'exclusive revelations' book, that we all knew about anyway. It happens from time to time!

This piece was not about taking sides; simply about the cause of the dreadful crash. Please don't try to bring pro or anti Diana arguments into the fold. We all know what happened; good and bad.

Please don't send me any more messages Rachel. I am not sure that I like you very much. At least not enough to have private communication with you.

Cro, I believe they did. They are and were scum of the lowest order.

So sad and ridiculous the lengths that paparazzi will go to feed some people's need to know.

cheers, parsnip

Good detective work Cro . You've convinced me.

Cro Magnon said...

Sadly the same applies to minor celebs who inform the paparazzi of exactly what they're doing and where they'll be!

Cro Magnon said...

I'm sure it's right.

I always believed it was the paparazzi, all of them, that killed her. It could have been any one of them. They are all guilty. They have no respect for life, would do anything to get the pictures.
And you can't blame the people who buy the papers and magazines either, any more than you can blame drug addicts. It's the dealers in the pictures who are equally to blame. They ruin people's lives and in this case they killed their victim.

The last message was my reply to yours two days ago. Remember?

That's exactly how I see it Jean. And I don't think they've learnt their lesson!
