Rain is forecast.

Having experienced one of the driest years on record, I now see that we're about to endure a whole week of bloody (but quite welcomed) rain.

Of course it may never happen, but I think I'd better cut a lot of wood today; just in case.

Apparently Prince Charles used to call his ex-brother-in-law (Cap't Mark Phillips), 'Fog', on account of his being both thick and wet.

The combination of wet, fog, and cold is just about as bad as I can imagine.

The sort of weather when you want a nice cup of tea, a dark chocolate digestive, and a good old film on TV.

    1. I must say that my laptop forecast (above) is not always 100% correct, but even seeing it made me shudder!

  2. Hi Cro, so strange; here in South Africa we love seeing this type of forecast on the screen! We're entering our summer rains now, which is a blessings as last year we only had extreme heat and drought until mid-January. Wrap up warmly. Greetings Jo

    1. I'm not against a good summer downpour, but this sort of prolonged damp foggy drizzle drives me mad. I'm just hoping they've got it wrong (again).

    2. Yes, our weather builds up, lets down and the sun comes out again. I would be a lot less chirpy in soggy conditions!

  3. Siberian weather was better than the stuff we have had here this weekend - wet, windy and cold. Horrible.

    2. Rachel... the weather you've just had is the "Norfolk tester"....
it arrives just after the half-term and at the end of the migration.
I well remember cycling into that from the City centre out toward the aeroport and "Hell is Done".... up that interminable long, low hill... into the wind... so that shallow climbs seemed like going downhill...
just to go and watch birds!!

  7. Cro... Winter arrived here yesterday evening with a wind from the North and freezing fog... minus 1.5 Centipede... covering everything in a coat of rime!!
And, whilst it is wonderfully sunny at the mo, I can see on the satellite... that rain is approaching the Loire from the North... still, it sometimes stops there.........
    everything crossed!!

  9. Funny you mention Charles in connection with rain. The heir was just in the UAE with Camilla and she pretty as picture, head to toe in sky blue.

  12. First cold day here, +13ºC this morning at around 7 a.m. Such a shock after the wall to wall sunshine and 30º+'s we've enjoyed for the past six months. Alas, it seems that winter is finally here. Time for winter woollies, electric blankets - the central heating is already on - only a couple of weeks ago it was the air conditioning !

  14. Agree about the worst kind of weather Cro, although here it is the North wind blowing down from the moor which is probably the hardest to bear.

  15. Sorry if some of our weather leftovers are causing your days of rain. Our bad weather has centered on politics. Tomorrow we vote.

Will your span of rain result in mushrooms? Or is the temperature wrong?

    Best wishes, as always.

    1. Too late for the best mushrooms I'm afraid, other than the Hedgehog Mushrooms, and Trumpets of the Dead.

I wish you well for tomorrow but I fear that whatever the outcome, it will not be ideal.
