Cro 'the cornet' Magnon.

Who is this delightful, well behaved, little ice-cream-eating angel?

Yes, you've guessed it; it's the young Cro-ette, circa Summer 1952.

I'm offering it in line with the current fad for posting pictures of our earlier days.

I was probably thinking "Don't point that Box Brownie at me, or you'll get this ice cream in your face".

  1. But Cro....our parents used to take these pictures to...
    Show our future Girlfriends....
How embrassingly cute we used to be....
They used the responses as they trawled through the pages of the album to test the suitability or not...
    of our 'latest'....
to become one of the family.

Remem...rememem...ember, we had to endure the same thing at 'her' house....
    not knowing why the parents...
    so welcoming at the door...
suddenly became very cold and distant!

    1. I think any girlfriend of mine would have run a mile after seeing this one! We were always told to look hard at the girl's mother, as that's what she'd turn into.... many a nice girl was dumped.

    2. And the same could be said about a boy's father....

    3. Absolutely, which is why I never let any girl meet my father (joking).

  2. Cute! I liked the white hat too. You're not smiling, probably wondering if your ice cream will melt while the picture is been taken! If I remember well you like Magnum ice cream. Greetings Maria x

  4. It looks like you might have been sitting on a beach. I like the expression on your face (less than thrilled getting your picture taken).

You really were a cute little guy!

  6. Pictures were just taken on special occasions, holidays and vacations and were put in albums that took years to fill. They were a very important record for a family. That is quite a difference from today where people take hundreds (maybe thousands) of selfies of themselves in a short time. They just don't seem as precious or important anymore.

    1. Or they get put onto a computer, then lost when it's exchanged for a new model.

    1. Didn't we all take a roll of 24 to Boots, then pick up about 2 decent ones?

  8. We all seem to look the same in our 1950's photographs don't we Cro, be we boy or girl !!!!! We did get a great deal of pleasure from the simplest of things, and an ice cream was a bit of a treat. I have got some really horrendous photographs of me, mostly involving revolting swimming costumes !!!!! XXXX
