Beware, Cat at Work.

Cats aren't there just to look pretty, they have a serious job to do.

So here is Freddie hard at work. He's been on night patrol when everything's as quiet as a mouse; well, as quiet as this one anyway (actually it looks like a Vole).

It's still dark outside, and I nearly trod on the wretched thing. Thank you Fred!

Addendum: Someone has just published a list of the UK's favourite jokes; this was amongst them...

'I was in the park when I came across a front row ticket to a Justin Bieber concert nailed to a tree. I took it down and kept it; you never know when a nail will come in handy'.

It must be odd being a domestic cat, the smaller and less toothy version of "big" cats. I wonder if we humans are the larger or smaller analogue of some similar creature, we're the small, tame version of humanicus sabre-toothius or are we the "big" version and hobbits are our domestic cat equivalent?

Good joke. My old cat has retired from catching things, but the puppy despatched a quite large spider that was running across the carpet last night...my hero!

Good job Freddie.
Over here in JB's home province most of us feel the same way....our young performers are such twits.

Our two cats are more interested in baby rabbits than mice it seems Cro - but at least they save the poor little things from a lingering death from myxamatosis, which is everywhere at presemt. Love the nail joke.

Good work, Freddie! JoJo has been busily hunting all summer, and letting me know it by leaving me gifts. Jim and Phoebe both hunt, too, although Jim doesn't care about presenting me with anything. Phoebe lets out a cry when she captures something down cellar. She knows i don't do well with these gifts, so i thank her for keeping the house safe, and then she has a snack.

I also like the joke. I think you 'nailed' it, Cro.

Justin Bieber? I try to picture myself at 15 or so years old...would I have loved him? No way...even then I had a tiny bit of good taste. Without a doubt, I'd take the nail.

Good old Freddie...no day of rest for him. :)

I love how cats delight in showing you their kills. "See? I'm worth my keep!" Good Kitty.

Ditto about the mouse and the joke. What's the difference between a mouse and a vole? I've never seen a vole.

I didn't grow any ordinary curly Kale this year, but I DID grow plenty of Italian Kale (cavolo Nero). There is an interesting recipe for CN with pasta that I want to try (CN, olive oil, garlic, and anchovy). Otherwise, perfect for soup.

Not a lot H. They are cousins; Voles being slightly smaller.
