Pukka Toms, at last!

Our Tomatoes are now producing. The back of the tag (below) says 'Enormous fruits over 500 gms, excellent flavour, variety resistant and vigorous'. They got it right!

The variety is rather poorly named 'Supersteak', but I'll forgive the lack of imagination because the description is correct. This is one of those solid, no watery interior, type of fruits.

I like them best just sliced, with a dressing of crushed garlic, olive oil, vinegar, and basil. Below was supposed to be how the above tomato finished-up last night (on a pizza), but I forgot to take the photo. Instead here is Lady Magnon's (extremely wine blurred) mixed fruit salad.....

Can't help but think that there should be some sort of "pin" arrangement on that thing, for you to pull before you throw it at the Parisian neighbours...

WOW Cro .... What a whoppa !!!!
One of my favourite things is to have a plateful of tomatoes with a lovely vinegrette dressing .... I could eat them all day. Somehow they seem to taste better in the Mediterranean ..... I think it's all of that sunshine.
.... and thanks so much for the comment Cro. XXXX

I love those tomatoes. Wish we could get them here. Does a 'wine blurred' fruit salad taste better than an ordinary one and did the wine blurring refer to she who mixed it or he who photographed it? (Just asking...!)

oooh sometimes size does matter.......makes me want to go straight back to France!!!

Yum on both accounts. That fruit salad looks delicious. Half a kilo of tomato vs half a kilo of beef steak. Now that opens up a whole other debate doesn't it?

It was late, and we'd been celebrating!!

Yummy! I lived on tomato salad and baguettes one (homeless) summer in France, with the same dressing as yours . . . I kept my knife, oil etc in a locker at the rail station, after having my favourite knife confiscated by the Gendarmes! x

There's nothing like your own grown tomatoes! I always eat the first ripened one like an apple...Delicious! :-) But we have a variety here like that called 'beef-steak' that looks like that and are perfect on a bacon-lettuce-and tomato sandwich, or any one for that matter! Enjoy!!!

"All good things come to he who waits". That is a delicious way to end the summer, Cro.

The tomato and the salad look great. The only large tomato we have is extremely watery.

Bloody hell Cro - a mega-monster - maybe just a little over the top - but if you can't brag about the size of your tomatoes - well, life's just not worth living.

Just wait till I post some pictures of the bigguns!

With the benefit of that French sun I bet those tomatoes taste fantastic - here we rarely get a decent tasting tomato. I like them best sliced and served with cubed feta, black olives, olive and and a dash of balsamic and a sprinkling of sugar.
Like the look of that boosy fruit salad.

The fruit salad is after mine own heart. The tomato's pretty good too. ;)

I don't think I have ever written the word 'whopper' before, but here it need to be done. I wish I could come and raid your garden...

That's our usual lunch (apart from the sugar).
