Bramble Jelly Season.

The hedgerows are now filled with Blackberries, and we went on our first serious picking sortie yesterday morning; walking stick, basket, punnets.  We had a reasonable haul, and we shall go again in a couple of days time.

I had just enough for 3 small pots of jelly, plus a wee taster for tomorrow's breakfast.

Anyone who has not tasted proper home-made Bramble Jelly, just ain't lived!

In my not-so-humble opinion it's the finest tasting fruit jelly/jam in the world.

Oh, it is years since I had bramble jelly - blackberry and apple pie or crumble would also be good.

It's 'crumble' in this house; love it!

That bramble jelly looks seriously tempting. Yum.

Love apple and blackberry crumble but regretfully it's not to be found here in the tropics.

The first blackberries have been picked in our local supermarket car park but there are none in the hedgerows yet. Like you I love bramble jelly but it is the whole process of going out 'hunter-gatherer' style to find them that I like best.

That wee taster will be the best after the saucer test lot.

I did do 'the saucer test'; seemed OK.

I'm so greedy I eat them straight from the bush!

Blackberry jam and cobbler are fabulous, but blackberry wine is mighty fine, too.

Mmm bramble season! My favourite! Ours aren't ready quite yet but hopefully by the weekend there will be at least some ready for picking. Bramble jelly on soda bread.......... **faint**
