Amy Winehouse with Jools Holland - Monkey Man

Jools, Amy, and a glimpse of Rico on slide trombone... what could be better?

Vernal Equinox today. Spring has eventually sprung.

Great clip - I remember seeing this - must say though she's a terrible mover - doesn't quite know what to do with her legs. St. Vitas dance maybe!

and a bit sultry looking too.

Not her best tune, to my mind. I saw Rico a couple of times, and I have to also say that I never liked all that brass either - sorry...

Great singer. She looked overjoyed to be there.

Listened to a few tracks by a young guy named Maverick Sabre the other day who sounded just like her. You'd like him.

Great clip.... I think of her as having been a bit of a bird of paradise...appropriate after yesterday's lovely post.

Dear old Rico, he's almost past it now, but still a legend. His playing days really should be over; he can hardly manage anything any more.

The song is an old Ska classic, written by Toots (and the Maytals) Hibbert, who's girlfriend had just left him for a big fat guy, that he named 'Monkey Man'.

I've just had a quick peek. The sound and the face don't seem to match... are you sure he wasn't dubbed? Great voice!

Forgot to say that I detest Jools Holland too!

The ravages had not yet taken over.

That was nice, Cro. But she seemed so sad, even then, even singing such an upbeat song. Man, what a waste of a talented life.

I prefer her over Lady Gaga. Amy was tuned in with those old Jazz singers and really knew her stuff. Sad that she's gone.

One of my favourites by Amy. Such a waste of a naturally gifted girl. I flippin LOVE Monkey Man.... Love it I tell you! It's one of my fave Ska tracks :) I can't hear it cos the computer police at work won't let me but I shall revisit later! Thanks Cro!

No you didn't. You've told me that before.

Well, when you get home turn the amp' up to 11, and get stompin'.
