Hoo-bloody-ray.

This small drawing of Stonehenge was painted on a really foul Summer's day, back in 1983; I remember the day well. It was one of just a few watercolours that my agent had amongst his 'illustrations' of my work, and I'm very happy to hear that it's now just been sold.

It won't make me rich, and his commission will hardly keep his lovely wife in nail polish, but it's always good to sell something.

In these uncertain times, good news is rare. Thank you Charles.

  1. That's a great painting. It reminds me of some of my rain experiment drawings. I like your use of colour.

  2. I love that. Could you do a similar painting on a larger scale?

  4. I also love that painting too. My favourite is Nighthawks. I have a canvas print of it, that my husband bought for me a few years ago. My family don't understand why I like it so much. haha. Atmosphere.

  7. Congratulations. It's good for the soul to, occasionally, be validated for one's efforts.

Art is hard to shift. I remember the day I asked a friend of mine, it was his first exhibition at age nineteen, if I could have a particular painting. Since I didn't have the money a gift would do. He looked at me as if I were mad. Maybe I was. The answer was no. Still, some years later he sold me (for several thousand pounds) a painting I now can't get shot off. Can't help thinking that maybe best to just stick to baking rolls - they tend to go like hot cakes. Ask Lady M.

  8. Lovely painting. That's a place I would really like to set up my easel, but I wouldn't think it would be allowed now. I did well on sales last year, but not expecting any for the foreseeable. Will still be painting, though.

  9. We drive past Stonehenge on the A303 each time we visit family, love you view of it, glad it sold, it's a nice feeling when someone is willing to pay money for something you created.
