Billy's nose.

As you can probably see by the above, apart from being a very funny looking pup, when Billy first arrived he had an extremely pink, rather non-committal, nose. Just a couple of tiny black spots and rest was pink.

Now, over a year later, he has become a very handsome boy, his colouring has developed, and his nose is slowly filling-in with black (No, not the children with their pens!).

I certainly think a Border Collie looks better with an all black nose, but of course we like him as he is; regardless.

I'm now wondering, with time, whether his nose will become totally black. I somehow think it might.

Quite a different boy from his first portrait.

Very handsome, indeed. But I think he was a very appealing puppy as well.

Funny that as a puppy he appeared to be black and white with a pink nose but I see what you mean about his colour coming in. Sandy coloured around the eyes and throughout his coat. Handsome boy. Definitely cuddly material.

He looks very smart and happy too.

He knows ya knows - yes he certainly knows he has you right where he wants you!
Nice faithful looking pup!

He is lovely.

The pup photo makes me smile - big time. I can see the speech bubble in a rather bewildered Billy "Where on earth have I been landed?"

Does he bark in French to fit in with the neighbourhood?

A handsome pooch. Tenpin's new addition is very handsome as well.

He is a grand dog. I am trying to remember whether I've seen a mature dog with a pink nose and can't. I suspect it will turn black but no worries either way.

He was a bit awkward as a pup, but great fun.

He had dark eyes too. He's changed a lot.

He's certainly a very happy boy. He loves his life here.

He rules the roost; or at least he thinks he does!

He was a bit bewildered when he arrived here. I expect he missed his mother and siblings, but he soon settled.

Missy is a very nice looking dog. She'll give them lots of fun, I'm sure.

Our Lab', Monty, had a pink nose. His started black-ish, then became pink.

Border collies are F's fav. Her's had a pink nose and it used to get sunburned. It's a tough job keeping sunscreen on a dog's nose. Billy is a fine fellow (compliment indeed from a dog-wary Tigger).

I absolutely love him. As a pup he did look a little odd, all strangely out of proportion. The ugly duckling has turned into a mighty fine swan.

Ellie our rescue collie is so happy now. After a long six months of being afraid of the husband she now seems to love him more than me. My pink nose is definitely out of joint at that fact I don’t mind telling you!

Beautiful colouring.

He's extremely playful, he wants to play all day long; we've probably over indulged him. He has one of those long plastic stick things that launch tennis balls, and wants us to throw them all day long. I think he needs Sheep.

I really wondered what we had at first. He was very awkward and ungainly, but he's turned out fine in the end.

Cro Magnon said...

Yes, it really is nice. PLain black and white is nice, but that little extra adds a lot to his 'look'.

I love him ...... he looks soft and kind. I think it would be nice if a bit of pink remained on his nose ..... it makes him Billie. Lovely that you both found each other. XXXX

He's full of fun. Very friendly and playful. We couldn't have hoped for a nicer dog.

Not much pink left. Here dogs and cats that have pink noses are susceptible to skin cancer.

The top picture is very cute. I am not a dog lover but if I was forced to own a dog it would be a border collie. Why did you call him Billy?

He's a gorgeous boy and I love his nose just the way it is.

I was wondering whether a pink nose was liable to sunburn but the comments have supplied the answer. He is handsome though.

And yet, black absorbs heat faster.

When he arrived he'd been given the name Badger, which I didn't like. Someone called him Billy Badger, and eventually Billy took over. On his 'passport' he's still called Badger.

Cro Magnon said...

It certainly gives him character, but I think it'll end-up all black.

He's the best looking of the three of us.

Life would be very dull without them.

It would be a pity..gives him that extra character and uniqueness!

He really is a very beautiful dog isn't he - but as the doctor once said to a lady in our village when she remarked on the birth of her baby girl - Isnt she perfect doctor? He replied there's only one perfect baby abd every mother has it.

Cro, I adore the puppy photo; aren't they so lovable? He is a very handsome grown pooch now as well.

I like the tan coloration, too. An essential part of a border collie.

In no way is Billy 'perfect'. He barks at passers by, demands attention at all times, and chews my hands when we play together. He'll calm down of course, and we are trying to train him. But....

Cro Magnon said...

He was a very funny looking puppy, but full of fun.

Cro Magnon said...

That's one thing I can confirm... he's a very happy boy.

It adds a bit of character and warmth. We have a neighbour who had an all tan/white BC. She was a gorgeous dog, and is much missed.
