The Darling Buds Of May Theme Song

Recently, whilst eating some lunch, I heard this theme tune coming from the sitting room. I think it's ITV3 who are re-running the 'Buds of May' series.

Regardless of whether one enjoys the programme or not, the theme tune is an amazingly evocative piece of music in it's own right. English countryside, birdsong, and sunshine; all is there.

Sounds as if you are a little homesick.Where is home? Do you think of France or the UK as home?

Cro, I left a late reply for you at Rachel's Cambrideg Eateries. It's about soup.

That's a good question. I've lived most of my life in France, but I suppose one's native country is always 'home'. Anyway, I prefer to be here.

I do like Campbell's Oxtail soup (or, I did). Heinz Tomato soup is nice too.

I still like watching the odd episode of The Darling Buds of May ...... easy watching and memories of childhood Summers ...... the music sums it all up beautifully. XXXX

When I heard it yesterday, as I was having my lunch, it brought back wonderful memories to mind of English summers, and wheat harvests. Lovely tune.

I watched it once but then never again. I hated it.

Jack Sprat would eat no fat, his wife wouldn't watch Darling Buds.

I hated it too.

It was certainly good for Catherine Zeta Jones.
We loved it, seems such a long time ago, happy days

If you don't know it, try Vaughan Williams' English Folk SOng Suite,

Very 'English'.

I like it and it really speaks of Spring.

I presume you mean the TV show, and not the music.

I'm not sure if I saw much of the TV show itself, but the music is very evocative.

Yes, I do know it. I like the fact this this piece is so whimsical and summery, I find VM a little more serious and studied.

The TV series is just a bit of nonsense about a mythical farming family and their children, etc. Fun if you have nothing better to do on a rainy afternoon.

English countryside on a warm afternoon.

Yes, it summons beautiful images; which is what such music should do.
