Twas (almost) the night before Christmas
when all through the house,
not a creature was stirring
not even a mouse.
Both, of course, have their own comfortable beds, but they prefer to sleep where we'd rather they didn't.
We put chairs on the sofas at night, but they find a way around that. Bok loves to sleep on my old threadbare wing-back chair, and Fred sleeps nearby to keep an eye on him.
There's really no point trying to get them to do otherwise; anyway, it's their house as much as it is ours, and I suppose they should sleep wherever they feel the most comfortable.
So, this is the scene chez Cro. There's a dying fire in the hearth, there are feint sounds of animals sleeping, we've just had some delightful friends around for dinner, and Santa's on his way.
That'll do!

Wouldn't Bok have more room on one of the sofas?
I keep telling him that, but he loves to be squashed into my chair.
It all looks very cosy. The tree looks good too. Dogs and cats know exactly the best places to sleep don't they.
It is a cosy little house; a proper country cottage.
A cat, a dog, such a friendly atmosphere, you and Lady M have a very cosy and welcoming home!
Greetings Maria x
It's just a pity that none of our grandsons are here to enjoy it with us. That would have been 'the icing on the cake'.
What a cosy, welcoming home.
We gave up trying to keep the dogs off the sofas. None were ever encouraged, but the males always found a way, yet strangely none of the females have ever tried.
Bok chooses your chair, because it smells of you Cro, and it's his comfort zone.
I'm sure you're right. He's very much MY dog, and always likes to be near me. The chair is the nearest thing at night.
The cats sleep on lots of comfy surfaces here. Mainly beds and next to pillows and if they want a spce they will have it and push and push until they get it.
It all seems pretty perfect at yours Cro. X
Fred does spend half the night curled-up under my chin; he knows what's what!
All is OK here; just as it should be.
I gave up, the dog is sleeping on the sofa at night and when she hears me in the morning she jumps back to her bed.
That's dogs for you... DEVIOUS.
A perfect scene. Fred and Bok are probably wondering why the curious humans put chairs on sofas at night.
All Christmassy and Hygge, perfect.
Jean
I think they know perfectly well. They just choose to ignore it.
Yup, just how I like it.
You're all Christmast up ..... it all looks lovely ..... is that Father Christmas peeping around your winged chair ? .... he's a bit early. Actually he looks very much like you ..... you're not are you ? XXXX
Santa arrives tomorrow night, and yes he does look very much like me!
Cosy.
The cat looks about to pounce. I hope it doesn't imagine it can see a bird in your tree.
That Berlin terrorist passed by you in the night. Anyway the Italians have dealt with him. He won't cause any more trouble.
Our dogs are outside but I often lie next to them in the feed shed on the hay piles. It is warm and cozy there as well but not nearly as wonderfully colorful as your cottage. How do you ever get your guests to leave? I never would.
I was pleased to see that they'd 'dealt' with him, so much better than prison.
Happy Christmas Gwil.
There's nothing better (well almost) than cozying up with a faithful dog. Not quite the same with a cat!
I love this picture. I have a matching Canadian cat! (the universal tabby - generally good natured and easy going). We have bought cat beds. Neither cat sleeps in them. -Jenn
Well done Italians!. Dealt with it,
Sometimes I like to watch Billy Connolys version of Glasgow terror attempt!. So funny!.
I love Tabbies, they're REAL cats. I'd never have anything else.
Cosiness reigns at your home, Cro. Not just at Christmas.
(I remember putting chairs on the sofa at my childhood home in an attempt to dissuade lovely dogs from seeing that particular comfy spot. Rarely worked.)
Happy Christmas to you and yours.
We have a tiny 5 pound multi-poo pup (Maltese and Poodle) that has slept with us since day one. he's now ten years old, blind and arthritic and no one can sleep till we're all settled in our respective spots. (We all snore too!)
There comes a time when we resign to having them all over the furniture. It's what they want, so why not!
Happy Christmas to you Frances x.
I'm up early this morning as I couldn't sleep. Bok is snoring, and Fred is purring. It should be very peaceful, but in fact it's quite noisy.
Lovely Christmas night. I love to hear the Square ones snore.
So happy I found your blog.
Merry Christmas.
cheers, parsnip
