Without question my most enjoyable times at Art College were spent in the 'life room', often working on quick 10 minute poses where one had to work extremely fast. It involved noting the essential, then finding the quickest route to bung it down on paper (not always successfully).
I've always preferred drawing to painting, and the majority of my work is more 'drawing with paint', than actual painting.
Also, most of my favourite bits of work have been little throw-away scraps, of no consequence to anyone but myself; this tiny self-portrait being a good example. I suppose it's the spontaneity and freedom that appeals; no pressure.
I've been sorting through stuff. Chuckin' out.

I like drawing best too. My favourite ever piece of work was a 5 minute pose done with sponge and ink.
I do remember a project where we drew with ink and pointed stick.

Not sure whether I prefer drawings or paintings - luckily, being unable to do either I don't have to make a choice, and I do have both around the house.

My God, how did you paint my thighs from all the way over there. Truly, if i lay on the bed, it looks like me. If you could just put a bunion on the left foot and make the top half point off in a 45 degree angle, ill buy it.
I prefer drawing too. I usually feel I've ruined a piece once the paints come out, probably because I HAVE ruined it.
The few pieces I was proud of were the quick sketches made in life drawing.

I agree with everyone on the self-portrait. How in the world do you cause the eyes to evoke such expression with a few dabs of paint?

Do you hire out, Cro? I have two houses and a barn full of stuff. I am going to lie on the kitchen floor in a few minutes and clean out stuff I never use in the kitchen. I don't even remember most of it. I do hate to do this. Wish someone else would.
Lady Magnon has just been going through the darkest recesses of our kitchen cabinets; she's found some horrors!

Love your work. And you've motivated me to do more with my fathers artwork. Too much of his art in closets and it must be framed and enjoyed. I've kept some of his scribbles too, the art before the art. They are indeed just as valuable
Hope you didn't chuck out that pared down nude. It's gorgeous. If you did expect a motorhome outside your house soon and some mad woman rummaging through your bin!
I prefer drawing to painting myself. I love these two paintings. The first one has some particularly challenging perspective that you managed very well!
