It's been a bit wet and blustery here over the past two days. Luckily we haven't had the storm damage seen in Jersey or the West Country.
In fact other than having to wear my Barbour on two drizzly occasions, it really hasn't been that bad.
However, when walking the dog early in the mornings, the sound coming from the sea has been quite spectacular. It sounded like continuous thunder. Hove seafront (in photo) was firstly covered in foam, then revealed a carpet of stones that had been thrown-up by the crashing waves.
There's usually a plus-side to most meteorological phenomena, and ours has recently been beautiful skies.
The 'Angel of Peace' monument sits on the boundary between Brighton and Hove.
Every place and its troubles and its beauty. Here the sun is shining and the sky is clear (still), the weather is wonderful and quiet for now.
ReplyDeleteSame here. After a miserable day yesterday we now have a beautiful sunny morning, and no rain.
DeleteFantastic photograph. We have had some spectacular sunsets, and sun rises, which I have not been up earlier enough to capture on camera.
ReplyDeleteIt's been quite beautiful here, and tonight we have fireworks.
DeleteWas the "Angel of Peace" monument erected after the mods and rockers clashes of the nineteen sixties?
ReplyDeleteThat was just uber-posturing. It didn't need a Peace Offering.
DeleteThat really is a spectacular sunrise.
ReplyDeleteWe've had the high winds, but still no rain. It's much cooler and this morning there were people sunbathing on the beach but not too many in the sea, when I walked the dog down to the promenade for a coffee.
It's sunny and warm-ish here today, so the town is full of visitors. I doubt if they'll be swimming though.
DeleteStorms are part of the allure of the seas.
ReplyDeleteStorms are also the peril of the seas.
DeleteThat is a beautiful photograph Cro. I am getting a bit fed up with the media sensationalising everything. I know many have suffered because of the storm and I really feel for them but, we get this every year !!! XXXX
ReplyDeleteWe had one night of quite heavy rain here, but that's all.
DeleteI love a good ocean storm. Massive high tides and waves crashing is pretty exciting. The sky after a storm is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteDress accordingly, and enjoy!
DeleteOh, I would be down at that beach looking for treasure washed up.
ReplyDeleteWe once had a timber-carrying ship that lost its load just off Brighton. The beach was covered in wood of all shapes and sizes, but the police closed it off as quickly as they could, and most was recovered over the next few days. I did see plenty of people walking around with planks. These days all they find is cocaine.
DeleteYes we seem to have missed the worst this time here in the UK
ReplyDeleteThe pictures of Jersey were dreadful. We really don't need that sort of destruction.
DeleteUp on the west coast we haven't had much of the latest rough weather.
ReplyDeleteLast night the Aurora borealis was visible as far south as Stonehenge.... hopefully we might get a sight of it tonight
I once saw in down in S France. I won't say it was as spectacular as it would have been further north, but I was amazed to see it at all.
DeleteA carpet of stones thrown up by the crashing waves? That would be something to see.
ReplyDeleteThe Prom' that you can see in the photo is very wide, and it was covered in stones.
