Jeremy Clarkson's Biggest Mishaps | Clarkson's Farm

I mentioned yesterday that I'd been given Jeremy Clarkson's book for Christmas.

For anyone who doesn't understand how badly amateur farmers can mess-up, this short video will give you some idea.

I should mention that my own farming career only lasted for two years. I borrowed a tractor from my very patient neighbour José, and ploughed, harrowed, and sowed. The first year I grew Wheat (which was full of wild seeds, so useless for bread-flour), the second year I grew a much safer cop of Maize which was OK. I can't actually remember what I did with my crop; there was a lot of it. Year three I decided to leave it to the pro's.

Anyway, here is Jeremy and his side-kick, the long-suffering Kaleb. This is worth watching to the end. It's hilarious.

Expect some colourful language!

  1. Master Clarkson at his best.... [un]intentional comedy actor.... we call our local male pheasants "Jeremy"... florid of face, loud and full of self importance!!

    1. Thank you, that was most entertaining.....
And, before everyone laughs a bit too hard at all these.... anyone who works on the land has been here, done that and has numerous t-shirts in the chest of drawers.
I used to run courses for the BTCV on how to continue felling a snagged tree safely.... why?.... because snags will occur no matter how experienced you are... and it isn't covered on chainsaw courses!!
In fact, most of these "outtakes" are part of the natural learning curve, they aren't covered on courses....
there was an unsown stripe directly in front of our gates last year.... longer than the one near the end of this video.... and Eric has been farming for close on thirty years now...

    2. Cro, I think Kaleb is a natural.... they must've searched long and hard for someone with his patience and sense of humour.... most real farmers would've written their resignation letters long before!!

    3. I expect he was promised FAME! In his book JC says that 30% of the trees in his woodland have a chainsaw embedded in them. I know what he means!

  2. I didn't really like Clarkson but watched him often here on a Sunday afternoon when there was no other English programme.
He's funny all right. Now that I've watched this I bet one of his videos pops up everytime I open YouTube .
Like your french gourmets. They were excellent even if I only understood bits and pieces

  3. I used to watch the Top Gear Christmas Specials filmed in some wild exotic country and I was working for the local authority at the time and I didn't realise it but nobody ever mentioned Clarkson because it was not pc to do so them all being lefties and everybody pretended publicly not to like him. As I was the new girl I went in full throttle about how funny it was etc. etc. and a silence fell around me. Then gradually quiet voices came through that yeh, they'd seen it and it was brilliant until suddenly everybody was admitting to watching it. Don't they just make you sick. After that we regularly talked about anything and everything and fuck politics. On the day I left 4 years later at the leaving present part, they said I had been a tonic to the office and nothing had ever been the same since. . One thing about lefties is they are a miserable lot and they have no idea how to enjoy themselves until you show them.

    1. Lefties don't have much to enjoy. Imagine having had Corbyn as leader of your party, or Abbott as deputy; etc, etc. Just that alone is enough to make them rush for Beachy Head.

  4. Clarkson was born in Conisbrough, South Yorkshire - in the heart of what was the South Yorkshire coalfield. The men who worked at Denaby Main Colliery were virtually all Labour voters like their fathers and grandfathers before them. At the working men's clubs and pubs in the area, those "lefties" with their wives and girlfriends certainly knew how to have a good time on a weekend.

    1. Their good friend Scargill was probably a Labour voter too.

  5. I'm not a fan of Jeremy Clarkson ..... never understood the point of Top Gear which is even more ridiculous now. I was reading only five minutes ago that he has had to temporally close his farm shop after his Meghan Markle remarks. I can't bear what Harry and Harrys wife are doing but he always has to go a step too far.
I can't imagine why he thought he could run a farm ? XXXX

    2. I think it was wiser than buying a huge yacht. He'll learn in time, and will probably become a good farmer. Only time will tell.

  6. If farming was easy, every city person would have one. My grandfather bought 80 acres in the 1940's, farmed it for about 4 years, and then just used it as a private garden. My parents built a second house on it, I grew up there.

    1. I did have dreams of being a farmer myself back in the 70's. It didn't happen.

  7. What a lark. JC was really out of his depth with farming. Working the land has a steep learning curve.

  8. I think he only went into farming so that he could drive all those massive vehicles! For once they got the better of him!

  9. That is just one stuff up after another! I'm going to enjoy reading his book when it arrives in my mailbox. I shall dedicate an entire afternoon with my feet up.

  10. I love this program. When ever I'm in need of a good hearty laugh it always delivers. (Retired farmer that I be)
