Invisible mending.

Regular readers might remember that some time back a large round hay bale rolled off the back of a local farmer's pick-up truck, whilst making its way up the hill, and made this hole in the wall of our village cemetery.

I'm pleased to say that the wall has now been mended, and that they've done a really beautiful job.

Souls will no longer escape from 'boot hill'. All is once again walled-in and secure. RIP all within.

  1. Well done to the Artisan who did the work. Will that be your final resting place. It looks a pleasant spot.

    1. I hope so, unless I'm forced back to England.

    1. Nicely done, isn't it. We still have a few really good stone wall builders around; in amongst the cowboys!

  3. Certainly not patchwork. Blends in perfectly. None of the graves behind it were damaged?

    1. I shall have to ask who did it; just in case I need someone!

  5. The wall must have been ready to go if a round bale did that. The repair is better than it was before I guess.

    1. And they seem to have dismantled quite a bit either side of the original crash site. I don't know how much those big round bales weigh, but they're pretty hefty.

    2. Maybe it got a speed up. They weigh about 250kgs, about a quarter of a tonne.

  6. You wouldn't want the French ghoulies escaping from there! One's ghoulies need to be kept under control.

  7. Here there is no fence in the local cemetery. But there is an amazing view from the top of a hill.

    1. Traditionally there are walls around the cemeteries here. Inside there are all sorts of strange burial sites; glass houses, huge mausoleums, lots of photos of the dead, etc. They are always interesting.

  8. They did a beautiful job. It was probably time to redo the wall anyway.

  9. If I remember correctly that is a very steep hill next to the cemetery.

    1. It is. Steep enough for a hay bale to come thundering down, and do damage! Not a hill for cyclists.

  10. That is cracking work, matches the old wall well.
People don't realise how heavy those big bales are..yet how many times do we see them not tied down on a trailer?!
