It's that time of year again. People in silly clothes, perform awful songs, in front of 'over the top' flashing lights and smokey backgrounds. Yes, it's The Eurovision Song Contest time.
Apart from the awful songs, the competition has become overly political in recent years. This year it has actually become RACIST as well.
Several countries have refused to take part on account of Israel participating. Can it be because 1.200 innocent Israelis were slaughtered by terrorists on October 7th ? Or maybe it's because in their retaliation, those who were attacked actually managed to give Hamas a bloody nose !
Strangely, I don't remember any country staying away because Germany (the worst WAR-CRIMINALS of the 20th C) were taking part. But perhaps they didn't see the HOLOCAUST's 2 Million deaths as racist genocide.
As far as the 'singing' is concerned, it was the usual round of shouting, dancing, and awful costumes. The worst of which must have been Albania, who's song was about his dead mother, and Greece that was simply mad. The UK, of course, came last; it's traditional.
I think we've all had enough. Time to call it a day !
N.B. Boy George (above) who (for unknown reasons) was representing San Marino, was eliminated at once. In that outfit, I'm not surprised.

I applaud you for watching it, I vaguely recall seeing a bit of it half a century ago and it was crap then.
As the songs have got worse over the years, have you noticed how the stage and the over the top lighting has gotten bigger and more ridiculously over the top. As if we'd ever fall for that.
And Boy George seems to be morphing into one of Ken Dodd's Diddymen.
But shame on those countries that boycotted the event over Israel. And why has the rest of Europe turned their back on us? Is it because of our awful entries or the fact that we withdrew from the E.U?
I forced myself to watch about 30 mins. I was dreadful.
The EU like to punish us as much as they can over Brexit. I think they also find it embarrassing that most songs are sung in English.
Why are you watching ? Because you like it or because you needed a subject to write your comment? Calm down it's sunday , the sun is shining and take a nice book or start yoir lunch ideas.

I find the whole thing fascinating (in a bad way). People become obsessed by it. They throw parties. I was amused by the Boy George story too.
I haven't watched it since ABBA won.
I am pleased to say I haven't watched it for years!
Yes, this competition is hard to watch, for many reasons. I watched until the Israeli song, which was third, and it wasn't just the countries that boycotted us. Outside, there were anti-Israeli hate demonstrations by hundreds of people, and during the Israeli song, boos could be heard inside the hall. The Israeli singers practice in advance how to deal with all this hatred. Did you know that here in Blogland, too, there are those who have been boycotting me since October 7? A few respectable ladies and one man. I practice on my own how to deal with it, not always successfully.
