Al fresco camping.

Camping has always been popular with certain people, and who could blame them. It's lovely to spend time out in the countryside, breathe fresh air, and be 'at one with nature'. What could be nicer in late Spring.

Occasionally some choose camping sites that are 'illegal', and they are 'encouraged' to move-on. So they've packed-up their things and moved to another site where they hope to be more welcome; making sure to have left the area around where they were camped as clean and tidy as it was before they arrived. The last thing they want is a reputation of being litter-bugs.

Above was where they were in the Rest Garden where I walk with Billy, it's a lovely, well tended, oasis of calm in inner city Brighton.

Some other people who were camped nearby (above) were also asked to move elsewhere. They had installed themselves in the Graveyard, in a secluded spot known for being a meeting place for those who enjoy an exotic cigarette or two. Again they left the area in as clean a state as they could manage.

Wherever both lots of campers have now gone, I wish them well, and hope that they will be able to remain there for as long as possible. I also hope that they treat their new locations with the same respect they have shown here.

What effing PIGS.

What a tip. It must be a bit grim living in Brighton.

In a lot of places people wouldn't even notice the difference, but here in Brighton, such things are an eyesore. We don't expect it.

Makes you want to pull your hair out doesn't it? Forgot to make a comment yesterday about Rupert books. I also had them, and a few years back we stayed at a B&B in the Farne Islands, which was run by a lovely man, who spoke in Rupert style rhyme all the time. It was amazing, I don't know how he managed it. It was fun ordering the breakfast just to see what rhyme he'd come up with!

He sounds like a treasure. Did it mention his talent on the B & B web page?

Do I detect notes of irony in this blogpost? It seems rather tongue-in-cheek. Oh - now I see you revealing your true colours in the very last sentence. "Effing pigs" - weren't they in "Animal Farm"?

These are worse even! They come here because it has a reputation of being a nice place to live, then they trash the place (at least, where they pitch their tents). If they wish to be left alone, the least they should do is be TIDY.

There was a man who parked his van and camped on a traffic island here in Derby ( town centre, near bus station) loads of his rubbish on it. It took a few months to get him moved off. He became quite a feature. Wonder how he slept surrounded by the traffic and fumes. Crazy.

French illegal immigrants used to camp on the roundabouts around Paris. Each roundabout usually had a dozen or so rough plastic 'tents'; it was a dreadful mess.

Good grief. What a horrible mess. Who cleans it up?

Had a similar problem in my local town. A group of us bagged it all up for the council to pick up. Why don’t you organize a litter picking party and get it sorted?

The Council Park Workers; and they're not happy!

We do pick-up some of their mess, but this was too much. They had to bring in a special vehicle.
