Fly Tipping has become a real problem in parts of the UK. Unscrupulous land owners are making fortunes by allowing industrial scale dumping on their farm land; usually amidst woodland, where they hope it won't be seen. Other land owners (real farmers) are suffering from daily (nightly) secret dumping.
It takes place on hidden farm tracks, and even on quiet roads, where builders and clearance-people simply dump their detritus in order to save a few £'s. Some of the scale of this Fly Tipping is horrendous.
This particular example below, is actually on a public road. Unbelievable!
The UK's punishment for people who drive too fast on the M25, or steal whiskey from Tesco, is lenient and forgiving. But it should be severe for those who blight our lives by their litter (and worse). They should be put in the stocks, flogged, and tattooed with the word SCUM on their foreheads. Then they should be chained inside a very large dustbin outside their own homes, where people could empty all their vilest of trash (mostly baby's nappies)!
Yes, I'm very lenient when it comes to Fly Tippers.

Shoot those buggers!
I see that King Charles has got a lot of backlash for owning the land that has so much rubbish on it. If the photos Ive seen are genuine then he has a huge problem. How on earth is he going to relocate that mountain and to where.
That is truly disgusting.
I haven't seen about that, but I suppose he's as much a victim as anyone else. Knowing his eco-warrior reputation, I expect they enjoy dumping on his land even more!
Often the councils are task with the removal from roads and their land, it's not a hidden cost, but sadly people just want to pay the cheapest price and not check credentials.
It seems to be getting worse. It's been on the BBC News quite often recently.
We are now being told to ask any Rubbish Removal people to show their licence. What difference this would make to where the rubbish ends-up, I have no idea.
As one of the "woke folk" may I say that my heart goes out to all fly tippers. Owing to their genetic inheritance, rough and ready upbringings and limited educational achievements, they hardly know what they are doing. Inhabiting the fringes of mainstream society, they rarely ever mix with socially responsible citizens like you and me. As The Beatles sang, "All You Need is Love" and I wish there was a campaign to hug a fly tipper every day - listen to them, help them and finally boot them in the bollocks with steel toe-capped boots.
Well as usual, your generosity of spirit is to be admired. I think you should have a word with our new King. Once a renowned tree hugger, he would now, no doubt, hug a fly tipper as well; especially as I hear he has fly tipping on his own land. Hugging can be very light and endearing, or it can be powerful and breathing-restrictive; I would encourage the latter.
It was inevitable I suppose - we used to be able to take our rubbish to the local tip/recycling centre. We still can, but a slot now has to be booked in advance! No booking, no tipping. So it was obvious that people more unscrupulous people wouldn't bother and just tip their rubbish in the countryside - Not me I hasten to add!
I despise people who dump trash like that. The authorities should find those cretins, arrest them, and make them spend a good six months doing daily community service---picking up litter and trash!
That pile of rubbish is horrifying. Surely it must have taken more than one lorry load more than a few days, or even weeks, to accumulate? Surprising that no-one was caught in the act! Fly tipping seems to be a scourge no matter where you live.
Coppa's Girl
Unlike the other crimes you mention (speeding, shoplifting), fly tipping is much more difficult to pin on an individual or group. Without massive surveillance operations not sure how this can be addressed, unless there is anything in the rubbish that can point to an offender. I suspect that our councils and police will turn a blind eye whilst they can, parking it in the "too difficult" box.
In France we pay a flat fee, then every time we use the dustbins we have to use a card which registers how many times we've used it. As you can imagine, the roadsides are now filled with rubbish!
It's a horrible anti-social crime, and deserves serious punishment.
Some recent examples are far worse. These people have no shame.
They need to place surveillance cameras wherever there is persistent fly tipping. Then CRUSH vehicles, etc.
As always I'm sure they aren't worried at all - knowing nothing will be done - as with everything else - flis x
Every so often there's a big outcry, then it dies down again. Such is life!
With surveillance cameras everywhere, it should be easy to trace the offenders dumping trash/debris illegally. Somebody needs to take action.
One would have thought so, but these people are clever. They find new places to dump, cover their number plates, and always go at the dead of night. Needles in Haystacks!
