Not only does Lady Magnon make a very good Tarte Tatin, and exceptionally good Mince Pies, but she is also a dab-hand at making Mary Berry's 'Banana and Honey Tea Bread' (cake).
I've never been a cake-maker myself, but I was once so impressed by a cake recipe in Elle a Table magazine, that I had to have a go. It was an olive and bacon cake (savoury cake), and not only did it come-out perfect in every sense, but it was also delicious. If you can find the recipe, I would recommend it.
We do enjoy a bit of cake with our afternoon cup of Lapsang, and this Banana Cake is perfect. It's not too sweet, it is very tasty, and one cake usually lasts for about 4 days. I believe it takes just TWO ripe Bananas, and a few store-cupboard essentials.
She also makes a very good Lemon Drizzle cake, and the occasional Cheesecake; although Cheesecake can hardly be called a 'Cake'.

Sounds good.
Oh, I do miss cake these days.
It's very good. Just how I like my cake to be.
Go on. Spoil yourself!
Hubby is the baker in our house, we are enjoying a very good spiced apple cake, recipe from BBC site.
Banana cake is a good way of using up overripe bananas. Another use is chucking them under Nigel Farage's feet as he strolls along grinning and pretending to be "a man of the people".
That sounds nice. I recently saw Stein making a German Apple cake that looked wonderful.
We go for the former method. A couple of Bananas are put aside until they turn Charcoal colour, then we leave them a further three weeks before cake-making.
Banana cake and lemon drizzle are 2 of my standbys. Easy to make and sure to turn out well. K loves a bit of cake and manages to eat it all by himself over a few days. I do make smaller recipes these days.
I like the idea of olive and bacoN. I.m sure I can find a recipe for that
The olive-n-bacon cake was really good. I still have the magazine in France so I could send you the recipe. Do you speak French?
I've just had a look, there are various recipes online.
It all sounds delicious ..... so nice to have a slice of cake with a cuppa in the afternoon. My Grandmother and Aunt always made a fruitcake with almonds on the top. Whenever we visited, there was always a freshly baked one for afternoon tea. XXXX
Afternoon tea with freshly baked cake sounds wonderful. My Grandmother made melt-in-your-mouth blueberry cake using wild Maine blueberries. Sadly, she took the recipe with her when she passed away at 99.
I had an aunt who ALWAYS had a Walnut cake on hand. She must have made one every couple of days!
Blueberries are great for cooking with, my wife made some biscuits with them once, they were delicious.
