A return to compost meals.

I love this time of year.

For supper I just pop down to Haddock's, see what's growing, select a few bits and pieces, and combine them with whatever is hanging around in the kitchen (a Tomato and some Girolles).

Then comes the magic. I fry them all together (some having been previously cooked), then sprinkle with ground Cumin, and some salt to taste.

We've been eating these 'Compost fry-ups' since our children were small, and it's become a firm family favourite.

It costs nothing, it tastes delicious, and it reinforces my aim to become more veggie.

There was a bit left over that I've just had for my breakfast. Delicious cold too!

That first picture shows just why we should grow our own veg.... look at the freshness! And, looking at those girolles.... learn to forage too!

I've just come back from the woods. Still plenty of Girolles, and one very nice small Cepe.

I started a 3 day brown rice fast yesterday. I feel a bit sick this morning.

They certainly are the best. We've been living on bottled or frozen vegs for the past few months, so we're very pleased that our supply of 'fresh' has started again.

I always have 3 types of rice in the house; Basmati, Arborio, and American style quick cook rice. NEVER brown rice, I can't stand it.

A few simple, homegrown ingredients and, ' voila ', a feast fit for a King...... my only criticism is it's name ... Compost Fry-up doesn't do it justice somehow !!!!! XXXX

I think that's why I chose the word. Anachronisms rule!

looks delicious. We have so much mizuna growing we are eating it with everything. Now I am going to cook it with cumin!

I mixed-in some Cavolo Nero with my dish; Mizuna would have delicious too.

Wish you could just pop in and do a fry-up like that for me - looks delicious.

It really was delicious; but I am an avowed Cumin addict.

Delicious and healthy too! What could be better?

That's how I see it too, Jennifer.

Lovely, Cro. And may I report that I baked the parmesan biscuits as per your recipe for a drinks party last night over here on Canada's West Coast... they were a resounding success! Best wishes, James
